The only reason they say to pull the exhaust is to get at the bottom 2 bolts in the trans carrier cover. The exhaust is well out of the way of everything else your doing. So if you can get those 2 bolts out and then back in with the cover moved out about a 1/2 inch then your good to go without removing the exhaust.
