Electric or Mechanical Reverse?

I think HD should have designed a mechanical reverse to begin with

The 21 model year has an improved electrical motor now so we will see how it pans out

I have an ESP if it goes out, I do not use the reverse unless I absolutely have to

I put the mechanical reverse on my 2011 Tri-Glide... With my 2017 Tri-Glide i didn't have time on it before i got rid of it....With my 2019 Tri-Glide its just over the warranty so if the reverse bites the dust...I will Absolutely put a mechanical in....When i had the Mechanical i feared no parking spot......Gravel' Wet Grass' Mud parked pointed up hill or down hill...ETC....

That's "improved"? I'd hate to see what came before it then. My reverse is weaker than a soup sammich.

Technically The reverse electric motor is a reverse assist it is not a reverse as in any motor vehicle my ATVs and my side bys all come with mechanical reverse can you imagine buying a $20-$40,000 vehicle and then the instruction says just don’t use it for more than 5 or 10 seconds …😱

The electric motor has been upgraded, is it better? I dunno, for what it is it aint bad, but it should have been mechanical to begin with.

Reverse is NOT a new subject to The Moco, side car bikes and The Servicar had an actual reverse gear in the trannys for crying out loud.

I have a 2018 and only have used it once, can't remember the situation. I usually just push it back, or use my feet to back into a spot otherwise I don't use it. Now if mine ever goes out it will be a mechanical going in its place especially when my warranty expires, I think I still have at least 3 years left.

All for now Trampas

P.S. I agree with Jack, it should have been mechanical from the git go

I grew up in Pittsburgh, and their motor officers used Servicars exclusively. Watched them, in the 60's and 70's, back uphill out of a diagonal parking spot over and over and thinking "That is so cool!" They had a jockey shift, too!

When it is time, I am going mechanical. Just deciding which one! Saw a TriGlide in Cherokee NC a few years ago with a jockey shft and decided that's for me!
