Thinking about removing the catalytic converter on my Freewheeler. Does anyone know what material is used on the OEM head pipe? What type of wire should I use?

2015 Wire for MIG. Many vehicles use stainless steel. I'm thinking Harley uses mild steel that's plated.

I didnt go out and look , but just welded with the wire that I have on my little mig for welding everything, Its just regular old steel. Just cut a window out of the top. Air hammered and pried the guts out and welder the piece back in that I took out. Only took heat shields and rear floor board off. Did my last bike the same way...

OK, Thanks Lyle. You make it sound easy.

The guts are tough to get out ... air hammer helps ... but that platinum is tenacious ... LOL

Got it done, the cat is gone. Kind of cool out so I only rode about ten miles but I'm digging the sound. Stage 1 with Pro Super Tuner and Monster Rounds, tune seems fine. Time will tell if changes are needed. Thanks for the help guys.
