Y'all can just keep your freezer door closed up there. 23º is getting dang cold for this far south. For some reason I always thought I didn't go far enough south to retire. So keep that stuff up there!!!

It's a beautiful day today. The sun is shining, there is little wind blowing, if I still had knees I would grab the .22 and bag some cottontails for supper. Couple of more weeks of this and it will be walleye time!
If the temp is getting a cold as predicted (51) I may stay in bed tomorrow instead of doing my breakfast ride.

Personal best dumbest? -8 to englishtown and back, about 200 miles. Belonged to the polar bear club that year.

Whine, whine, whine...:laugh::laugh:
The lowest ride i went on was about 180 miles and the temps starting out were 6 degrees and about 15 degrees coming back.. Heated gear makes the ride safe...Word to the wise, At those temps take extra clothes with you in the Tour-Pack... In case of a heated gear failure, Can happen and you don't want to be on the side of the road heat-less in those low temps....

Don't Know About You, But
As I season in life, cool weather sure hurts the body. When I was a little younger I was in the Army in Alaska. I do remember being out on a few field problems with -30 being the norm. I am talking about being out for 30+ days in this kind of weather. Artic soldier life was hard in the winter. Now when I was not soldiering, racing the snowmobile in -0 weather was a lot of fun, as well as ice fishing, or hunting caribou. Being cold depends upon what you are doing. Jim
I hear you frostbite. It was -11 this morning in Jamestown, they had forecast -16 so we were a bit warmer than the forecast. It's -12 right now with the feels like (wind chill) at -32. Forecast is for low tonight of -21. We have "Wind Chill Advisory" for tonight and tomorrow morning. They really should name it "Freeze Your Buns Off Advisory":AGGHH:. We got 12 inches of snow with the blizzard on Tuesday and Wednesday. Had to blow the driveway out three times. Have 4 foot drifts in the backyard. Guess I won't be grilling and relaxing on the patio much for the next few days.
Stutsman HD is having "Scrooge Saturday" tomorrow. With your purchase of motorclothes and parts you pick an envelope and get any where from 15% to 45% off. Last year my wife did her shopping and pulled a 40% off. I did my shopping for parts as I we had ordered a new trike for delivery the first week of April. I bought V&H mufflers, Flair windshield, tour-pak luggage rack, plus a whole bunch of accessories and bling stuff. The bill came to $1800. and I pulled a 20% envelope so I got $360. off of my purchase. Not really planning on purchasing much tomorrow. They do have free chili and beer starting at noon. Don't have to worry about the beer getting warm if you go outside.

Back in the early 80's I was still riding in just regular gear down to 18º. Today I ride with heated grips and seat with electric gloves and jacket liner all turn up high and I'm freezing at just 34º. I used to think my parents were crazy for having their furnace set at 90º but I totally understand now. My wife is 10 years younger than me and I'm running her out of the house with her hot flashes. Got two blankets on my side of the bed and none on hers. It's nearly a war here.:laugh:
No heated gear...yet. but thinking about it. I was at a closeout sale, would have gotten electric gloves, but no controller available. Been looking at heated grips. Not sure yet what I can put on my Fly By Wire grips. I've gotten it down to a science riding with mittens. Can't give people The Finger who cut me off, though.
The ponds are skimed over. However at this rate , New Year's Day seems to be our ice fishing reunion date. When I was younger got frost bite in hands, fumbling with tip-ups now is a chore. But I still make a showing, and look and feel like the Michelin Man. Somthing about being on a block of ice all day, no noise, no tv , no woman, just good times with friends and hooch of all varieties. Oh forgot, a warm can of progreso soup , heated in the can. :clapping:Caution, remove label before heating , and punch hole in lid:AGGHH:
When we have our club ice fishing week end. [The reminders are sent out to say work weekend to keep the Wife home] Its any thing but quiet ' Chain saws to cut wood for the bonfire on the lake' Various adult refeshmets And Guns to shot at the blocks of ice we cut out of the frozen lake And Tannerite.. Oh yea we do put a few tip-ups in, Gives us something to hit with the ATV's......
