i had my back surgery last Friday 14 Feb. 2025. Was wheeled into the OR about 7:45 and had a short conversation with the "Gas Guy" and 5 minutes later I was out. Wheeled into Recovery at 12:55 Woke up somewhere around 2 PM. Got out of the hospital on the 19th, Had to spend a couple extra days there before I could do No.2. (And I haven't stopped yet.) Can't do anything except walk for the next month. BLT- no bending, no lifting nor no twisting. Can't Drive. Gonna give it about 2 months before I try to get back on the Trike. Got to put another hundred miles or so on it and change the oil and then I can get it dynoed. Hoping to get to the gathering in Arizona this September. Got 26 staples in my back which will be removed on the 28th.

Good to hear you are ok
Take it easy

I had back surgery in 1992. If they clear you to drive I would still stay off the trike longer. I drove as soon as they cleared me and even being careful any bumps in the car were still somewhat painful. We all know that our cars ride smoother than our Triglides. The advice about walking as soon as cleared and as much as tolerated is great advice. Even now if I slack off on my walking I feel it in my back and legs.

Ray I can't stress enough to do as the doctor says, my mother in law, my father in law and my wife has had back surgery all went well but, my father in law not doing as he was told can't hardly walk and has went back for several more surgeries all because he is being hard headed. good luck it takes a long time to get over back surgery.

Glad everything turned out ok, I probably would wait longer than 2 months IMO. I had a severe herniated lower disk surgery and waited about 6 weeks then thought it would be ok to take my Rubicon Jeep out for a trip. Turned out a lot rougher road than I thought, what a mistake! Ended up going back in for another blown out disk above it, what a mistake.
Can't imagine riding my Triglide anytime soon after surgery! Good luck Man!

As all the others have said, listen to the Doc's , do the rehab , and slowly transition back to your new normal.

Can't Drive.

Yeah, that's the worst part I think.

Over the many years I've known a LOT of people that had back surgery and almost all of em regretted it.
Today tho, things seem to have gotten better. Sure hope you fall into the latter group.

Thanks for the update Ray, it'll be a long road but you can do it by following Docs orders. I know rehab is a grind but hang in there, maybe you'll actually be able to ride in Maggie Valley next year, best of luck.

What’s this gathering you speak of?
We take off for 30 days every September so you might have to live without us
