Any aftermarket Brake Pedal to increase Surface Area?

Trying to find an aftermarket brake pedal to attach around the stock postage stamp sized brake pedal for a 2015 GW GL1800. With the single exception of the Kury brake pedal which is not much bigger than stock, the only ones I have found are for 2018 and newer. Are there any options out there to replace just the pedal without having to buy a new stem and pedal?

I think the OP was looking for a cover that would go on brake pedal to make it wider instead of replacing the whole arm. Unfortunately, that brake pedal is no longer available. Ever since Kuryakyn got bought out by Tucker Powersports, the Kuryakyn parts especially for the older Goldwings seem to be drying up and no longer available. And looks like Tucker Powersports sold out to Turn 14 Distribution which has caused Kuryakyn parts supply to shrink even more.

Thanks for the link but it comes up as not a fit for a 2015.

It actually will fit a 2015. Amazon gets the fitment wrong all the time so I take their fitment option with a grain of salt. They are wrong more often when they say a part won't work for your vehicle.

The OEM pedal used on a 2015 is the same I believe for the 2001 all the way through 2017.

Just a quick tip, if I am concerned about whether an aftermarket part will fit, I will look it up on Partzilla and below the parts description, they will show all the years and models that part works for under "Diagrams".

But unfortunately, as I mentioned above, that is a discontinued Kuryakyn part and every place I checked showed it out of stock.

Mike, you're correct on what I am looking for. I was hoping to get by with a cheaper solution than buying a stem and pedal. However, if it boiled down to buying the whole setup as the only option I would get it BUT seems like it is also not available.

I didn't know Kury was bought out. But it is not just Kury, seems like all the searching turned up all brands were not making these that would fit anything older than 2018. Are the stock brake pedals that different over the years? I am temped to order one for a 2018 and see if it fits but don't want to lose the money if the manufacturers actually know what they are talking about. ;-)

I did order the only aftermarket pedal cap I could find that was for a 2015 which also happened to be a Kury. Boy was I disappointed when it arrived. It is 2 3/4" in length and 2 1/4" in width. A gain of only 3/4" in length and 3/4" in width over stock.

My right foot turns out a bit and I would feel better not having to force my foot to the left to find the pedal. I was hoping there was an easy solution to getting some sideway length to the pedal so my foot would just naturally find it.

I would think a part for the 18+ is not going to work for the earlier gl1800's. They are obviously designed different.

Now you and I know that earlier GL1800's are still going strong. Even with the GL1500's, there are still quite a few out there. But a lot of not only Aftermarket manufactures but also the OEM ones too stop making or providing parts as the age of them gets closer to 10 years old. They just feel that demand has dropped off and they don't want to get stock with a bunch of inventory in the shelves. I have been going through this myself in trying to replace some stuff that I really liked from my 07. Also some of the smaller places like Baker Built Air Wings closed shop after the owner got older and passed away. Or the owners got older and were ready to retire. On some of the stuff, I had to search and keep an eye out on eBay as stuff does show up there from time to time.

Back to Kuryakyn, Kury was sold to Tucker in Dec 2021. If I had to guess, they suffered the economic effects of COVID, a tougher business environment, and as a result and Tucker gave them a solution. Now Tucker 2 years later got acquired by Turn 14 but supposedly it wasn't a sell out and wasn't due to any financial issues by Tucker, but merely a way for Turn 14 to expand into the power sports market and Tucker benefitted by expanded resources, whatever that means.

The part you want is Kuryakyn 4067. It installs on top of the "regular" Kuryakyn pedal to make it the size you're looking for. (I've had them on 2012 and 2015 Goldwings). Unfortunately, you ALSO have to buy the Kuryaken stem and pedal, first. Amazon no longer seems to have them in stock, but I found them on eBay:

Good find David. The OP should jump on that before it gets gone.

Bought it! Is the "regular" Kury pedal the "Kuryakyn 4077" that was linked above?

I bought the Kuryakyn 4067 yesterday; and today I bought a pedal and stem (see attachment) which I hope is the one Dave said I would need. (fingers crossed)

They both should be here by the 2nd of May. I will keep you posted. Thank you Dave, Val & Mike for your legwork.

I am trying to get the trike fine tuned for me before I take off for TN in May.

May I suggest you find a good local welder and get it custom made for you

DCTruncale aka Dave: Thank you again for telling me what Kuryakyn part (4067) was the Kury larger brake pedal I wanted but didn't know existed. Below is a picture of the large pedal on the Kury brake lever attached to my trike with the original pedal to show the difference in pedal surface area.

The second picture is of the first 4038 brake lever I ordered off Ebay. It came in looking good - it was a new fake Kury. I knew that going in, but thought it would work. I had trouble with it right away. There must have been some burring on the one I received. I could not get it started on the spline. I tried to separate the lever at the split a bit to allow it to slide on but no luck. There was no tension in the metal - my prying opened up the split and created a stress crack as seen it the second picture. I break about as many things as I fix so it could have been me using the sledge hammer instead of the framing one. In this case though since the new fake Kury was all aluminum it just bent. I didn't discover the crack until after I had given up trying to seat it.

The second one I ordered I ordered from a salvage yard and had my fingers crossed that it was an original Kury. I got it today and it just slipped on the spline like it belonged there.

I am headed to TN on Sunday and will feel much better with the larger pedal.

I'm about to try doing the same. I found one on Ebay that appears to be an actual Kuryakyn brake pedal off an 02 that was being dismantled. The pics show it had what appear to be the Kury floorboards with heel/toe shifter. They asked $41 OBO so I offered $31 and they took it. Seems like a pretty good deal. We shall see.

Any updates or thoughts on this @MT Jackass? Have you had any issues while riding with it? I now have what appears to be a legit Kury 4038 brake lever and was also able to track down an actual Kury 4067 wide brake pad and already have it mounted. I'm looking forward to trying it out. On yours, it almost looks like it is further forward than the drivers peg which is what I want.

I Have nerve damage and needed one so, I made it. It was very easy. I had the Kuraykan one and removed the top of it. Went to home depot and found a piece of stainless that I cut to size and then drilled three holes through it. I then used counter sunk screws so as the heads would be flush. I then covered with durable fabric with an adhesive backing. Been on for years. Heads up, if you make too big your foot will go under the engine case and you will not be able to pull it out without hitting the case or to avoid that you have to move your foot back and then up. good luck. I can seen Send picture it you like. I just haven't taken one.

PS I had the Kury one, but did not find it to be to my liking. It is wider, but not longer which I needed so it would be more under the ball of my foot.

This thread inspired me to give it a try. I bought both the Kury brake arm and the wide replacement pedal. So far it seems to work well. I also have the replacement Kury driver pegs. I mounted the brake arm as far up as I could and then angled the driver pegs down in front. It's actually pretty comfortable. I can easily fit my hiking boots below the brake pedal and that gives me a little comfort. When I need to brake, I just pull my foot back and raise up the ball of my foot and can push the brake pedal down. The first few times I did push a bit hard on the pedal and slowed a bit quicker than I wanted but am getting used to it now. The rear brakes seem much firmer and better stopping power that my 07 did. Not sure if it's because of the addition travel of the brake arm but it works good.
