Am I paranoid about frame cracks.

OK everyone,I have had my trike For 4yrs now and love it.But i'm paranoid about the frames cracks. Some times I feel I spend more time under it looking for cracks than ridding it.And when I'm ridding it's always on my mind. It's an 02 with road smith conversion. I keep thinking of selling it.I just don't want to sell it to someone and worry if their safe.I'm uneasy with it.:(

if you are selling it pay a dealer to check it our for the buyer, shouldnt be much money and could be a nice selling point:yes:

</div>wasn't the recall for just a patch of "03"'s that may have the problem. I do not have a late GW but I wouldn't worry about it unless I had one in the recall list.

Yep, some of the 02s and 03s had the problem....it was in the cross brace at the lower back part of the frame. I had a personal Friend here that had one crack. The ones that did, did it very early during ownership.....haven't heard of a case in years.....:wtg:

You have EVERY right to feel confident with your trike. If you don't, I would take it to a dealer for CERTIFIED inspection. If you have it triked, Honda will likely tell you to pound sand, so the place you bought it should do the inspection/repair. It takes away from the fun to worry about such a catastrophic failure looming. Honda will most likely state that triking the bike voided your warrentee, but I/d fight it tooth and nail, personally. The trike kit has NOTHING to do with the bad welds from the Honda factory, no matter what they try to say. Ask Zook to check it out, if you are within a reasonable distance. He is the only person I trust. jimsjinx

I had the recall notice.Took it to 2 dealers and they both said. You triked it you own it.I call a factory rep.He said it nicer.Any mods done to the bike void warranty and recalls.Bumed

Did you get it welded at your expense?

I had my frame inspected no cracks :}.Trikeshop said that when it was triked it took the stress point away because you don't use the air shock with their coil over Shocks in the rear.I'm happy

I know I'm very slow and have a hard time understanding a lot of things.
This is one of those time:confused:
In your 1st post you declare you are "paranoid" about frame cracks, etc.
In your last post you seem to have been placated by Trikeshop when you first triked.
What did I miss?

My dealer still does warranty work on the trike if its a none trike part, if trike part CSC has been GREAT, dealers that do not do conversions are another story all together!

I recently found a crack in my frame. It was the cross member under the seat that had ( for no apparent reason) snapped right at the weld.
Located a TIG welder out here and we managed to rewld it and in the process welded in a couple of angle peaces to join in the cross member and the frame.

It was an oddity to be sure and there had been no odd handling or anything and the only way i ran across it was when i was doing some cleaning under the seat ( Seal never comes off ) except to change air filter etc.
