700 to 950 cc motorcycle trike question

These are apparently the Rodney Dangerfield of motorcycle trikes.
(they dont get much respect)
HOWEVER I was looking at a trike in that CC range and before the motorcycle
was triked, it had more horse power than my 1600 engine on
my vw trike.

Will they handle two people weighing about 400 lbs?
I know they arnt going to set any land speed records two up,
but that isnt what I am looking for.

Looking for comments from anyone who has one.
Good, bad or terrible idea?

We 2-upped several times on a Motor Trike Honda Aero 750 that my Wife owned for a while....It would cruise comfortably all day at around 60 mph....She really liked it while She owned it....

I had a Honda VFR 750 an 80's job that i swore i would never part with, and ended up giving it to a mate who fell on hard times... thing is it had never been pulled appart, and was still good for over 220kph safely with more to go. triking it would slow it down, but i would think a modern 750-900 would kick my 103 HD's backside if it was done right... I have no facts or proof at all, its just what i susspect..

My first trike was a Suzuki 800cc with Lehman conversion. It had plenty of power for around town, commuting and short road trips. Biggest complaint I had was that at highway speeds of 70 or so, there wasn't much left on the throttle for maneuvering in traffic.

I weigh about 180lb and have ridden 2 up with a lady weighing less than me. Not sure you would be too happy with performance carrying two 400 pounders, but a trike in this range should carry you around town without any problem.

I really liked the Suzuki as a first time triker and put a lot of fun miles on it. Of course, now I'm spoiled with my BMW 1200 touring trike and don't look back. You'll want to upgrade if you like to take road trips.

I was figuring about 450/475 with gear for a loaded weight.
I was also figuring most of the riding would be about 70 mph OR LESS.

This is on the back burner for now. Got several things to do to the vw trike
before this summers trip (HOPEFULLY)
We have a family medical issue that is going to determine what happens
this summer.

I was thinking along the lines of triking my Suzuki Volusia 800. After doing the math, trike kit, install, paint was gonna cost $10,500.00. Bike value for 2003 Vol $3000.00. total $13,500.00. I purchased a 2005 Honda 1300 R VTX Champion for $13,100.000 ready to ride. Very happy.

Cavie, you have a valid point.

I was trolling on Craigs list and found two in Oklahoma
One was a Suzuki 800 and the other a Honda 750
Both were triked and less than 9k if I remember correctly.

I am about to trike a VT750 for the wife, will be a home build to keep the costs down, Saw a trike with the same model/ color bike and the wife was keen, gave me an excuse to upgrade my ride.

The lady owner of that trike absolutely loved it.

We have a 60mph speed limit here so it will handle that with ease

There's plenty of them out there, it would be interesting to hear from someone who
went from a smaller size (like you are talking about) to a larger cc & get their impressions.

I just trade my 2011 Kawi Vulcan 900 Storm for a 1800 Goldwing. The Kawi was a great trike for local and day trips. It is very limited as far as storage, and was definitely working at Interstate speeds on the hills.

I can't comment on the benefits of the upgrade, as we have not been able to move either bike due to the

snow that just keeps coming. I must say that we did love the Kawi and we will miss it!!!! Can't wait to ride the Wing!!!!!!!
