2019 Tri-Glide Heat issues

We have a 2019 Tri Glide and the exhaust heat is burning the bottom side of my right leg and burning my wife's right leg as well. i have been told by my dealer that if I take the cat off I will have to have the bike dynoed. I know I will have to install a tuner and have it mapped, but what is the purpose of having to dyno the bike? They told me it would cost like $1400 to dyno. Any thoughts out there?

I removed the catalytic converter from my 2020 Tri Glide. You don't need to re-tune or dyno.

I also bought a catless head pipe from Wild Pig for $100 and didn't have to retune it or do any dyno work on it. The basic rule is that if you do anything after the engine you don't need to tune. If you do anything before or in the engine such as high flow air cleaner or cams that's where tuning comes in.

I have gutted the head pipes on countless bikes and trikes for my self and friends and never had to dyno any of them. As far as dyno cost i had cams, lifters, oil pump, air cleaner and new head pipe installed on my 17 this year along with a TTS tuner and full dyno tune. The price for the labor to install all parts and Dyno tune was less than $1300 so $1400 for just the dyno tune seems high. Its 5 hrs to dyno a trike so even at $100 and hr that is $500.

I have a 17 Tri Glide with gutted CVO mufflers and left the stock head pipe alone. I purchased a power vision tuner with a modified "stock" tune installed.

I flashed the bike with the new tune and it runs night and day better. Higher (1000 rpm) idle, no stalling at low rpm. Smooth power. Doesn't act like you are braking when you let off the throttle. Much more power throughout ......... AND less heat !

Tuner can be used again if I modify anything else in the future and has an auto-tune feature if the generic base tune isn't spot on.

Being a Florida resident I fought the heat on my 2016 and again on my 2019 trike.

Considered all the solutions out there and went with a full Stage 1 upgrade. Had new headers installed (no cat), different slip-on mufflers, bigger air box, and the dealer put a tune on it. It wasn't cheap at $1,700 but now we can at least stand the heat plus it runs a lot quicker.

A lot of good answers already posted. So my take. 20 tri, I threw on a PV tuner, without marrying first. I had a lot of knock events, so ended up getting a license. So first stock a/c decatted pipe, stock muffs, there was plenty of room for the ve tables in that config. Factory built in some wiggle room without having to tune. However, after a while the stock muffs get louder, and produce a drone, which got irritating to me after a few hours in the twisties so I went further. My timing issues are due to rings that didn’t seal so good at first and an over zealous dealer tech over filling my oil and me not checking for 4K, so it’s oil build up on The heads and pistons, which is slowly clearing up. Lol.

Heat issues

I ride my 21 most time solo so I can speak for myself on the heat. Decided to get the floorboard extensions and they give me more space away from some of the heat. Well worth the money! Little time consuming putting them on.

I added the Harley Coolflow fan kit to my 21’ Tri Glide and it made a significant difference reducing felt heat on the right calf area… If you’re not familiar with this fan it kicks on at speeds below 40 mph automatically and directs the rear cylinder heat down and away from you.

I rode all summer here in the Midwest in all kinds of heat and it was much cooler than anything I experienced with my 99’ Ultra.
