Just got back from my dealer after having my winter wheels/tires installed. The parts manager asked if I bought the new TG yet. I said no - he said good-wait-there is a recall. Something about the steering head dropping(?). The servbice manager said they won't let him release any TG's untill they're fixed. Parts manager said he doesn't even know what to order and it will be some time before these TG's will be fixed. So everyone that just bought a TG won't be able to get it for who knows how long.

I knew there was going to be some bugs. Didn't think so soon. Sure glad I didn't buy one. :gah:

Well I've always figured that when a new model of any vehicle, bike, car, truck, or trike comes out that it's not a good idea to buy it the first year.
Always wait a year or 2 for them to work the bugs out of them. There is always something.
I wanted a Tri Glide when they came out in 09 but waited 2 years until 2011 before I bought one.
"Something about the steering head dropping on the 14's ?"
Well I can't say for sure but that sounds like something that could be a serious issue.
Nothing that the 14's have that makes me say I have to have one.
Hope those of you that bought a 14 still have you old ride. Sounds like it could be a bit before you get you new one.

There is another thread on the recall in this section. Problem is with the bars turned all the way to the right the inner faring can hit the rear brake reservoir, if left that way it can cause the reservoir to crack and leak. If the steering stabilizer is what stops the steering then it will have to be repaired.

"Problem is with the bars turned all the way to the right the inner faring can hit the rear brake reservoir"
Maybe I'm misunderstanding this but isn't the rear brake reservoir mounted on the right side down by the rear brake pedal and right floor board ?
How can the inner fairing which is the inside of the bat wing hit it when it's up by the handle bars ? Or was something relocated by HD that I may not know about ?
Can't be talking about the inner part of the lower fairing it don't turn.

hay DAN , just ask those of us who bought the '09 t/g. no CAT & a very good trike, with few problems. IMO
except for the needed stuff, like rear brake upgrade,& cam upgrade.

No cat on mine either. I removed it. The rear brakes on the 11 are the same as the 09. I don't see a reason to do anything to the cam on mine. It runs great.
In 09 the 96 engine was standard. The 103 was an option. Reverse was also an option. The 11 the 103 was standard and so was the reverse.
True the 09's didn't have a lot of issues but no one knew that for sure in 09. It's easy to look back and say it had no troubles but at the time in 09 no one could say that for sure.

I believe all 2009 T/G's are 103 CU :drama:reverse was an option
(easy on me if I'm full of it)

Doesn't matter if it's only the Canadian models or not. My dealers service manager said untill they get the parts or an OK from H-D Corp. he can't release any TG's to customers. Bummer!

Hopefully they'll get FREE winter storage while they wait.

I brought my 2104 Triglide to the dealer yesterday re this recall. They told me its an adjustment of the steering damper. My Trike was OK and did not need any adjustment.

The only 'problem we had with our '09 was the clutch pull was very hard for my wife. She sold her Deluxe because Cancer had screwed up the feelings in her hands and feet. THE DEALER suggested changing the clutch spring form the one used in the 103 to the same spring that was in her '08 Deluxe. They did the work when she took it in for the 1000 mile service. Didn't charge anything, didn't write anything down. 40,000 miles later with me (260#) riding there is no slip, glitch, or thunk. Rides great. She was ecstatic about the clutch pull. When we bought her the '11 I swapped the spring the first day.

"I believe all 2009 T/G's are 103 CU reverse was an option."
Sorry nope. The 09's and 10's the 96 was standard and you could get the 103 up grade as an option. Yes reverse was an option also.
When I bought my 11 the salesman made it a point to mention that the 103 was now standard for the 11 and not an option anymore as it was in 9 & 10.
Reverse was also an option in 9 & 10 and became standard in 11.

"(easy on me if I'm full of it) "
There, hope that wasn't to bad on ya, LOL.
Don't worry about it. I'm not always right either.

FYI:::
Tri glides 09+ all came with the 103 engine as standard eqp.
, reverse was optional in 09/10
09 was cat less...10+ has cat
Rear brake pads were changed in size abit in 11 as well as the rotor material, which elsewhere on here shows another upgrade was done to rotor material and is superceded by an {A} then {- B} in the rotor part #
09/10 were Lehman builds for HD, 11+ is solely HD...Theres a few slight changes made to rear trunk on 11-13 from 09-10..
Just my 2 cents..HaNkB

+1. Only the 2 wheel bikes had the optional 103 in 09.

Ok, my apologies to you guys.
I went out and done some searching and found out I was wrong.
The 103 has been standard since 09 on the Tri Glide.
Sorry but I do make a mistake from time to time but when I am wrong I will admit it.
My bad.
Should I have my wife spank me for you, LOL.
