This all started with heated internal grips shorting. The heater stays on while riding and burned my hands. I replaced the heating element and replaced the jumper wire for the throttle . Now the electrical is going nuts. Cruise control stays on there is no throttle response. None of the accessories work. An the Engine light is on also I don't know where to look any more! Does anyone have any Ideas.

Had a similar problem in my younger years when I jury rigged some trailer light wiring in my car. Pulled a boat trailer that had water in the tail lights. Not enough for a dead short but enough for a high current drain short. Condition melted wires inside the harness from the front to the back of the car. Couldn't see the damage from the outside of the harness under the wrap. I'd suggest a close visual inspection of the harness from the battery to the heated grips with a meter and wiring diagram.

I ended up having to replace the whole harness from the fuse block to the rear of the car due to multiple melt through points. Good Luck.

Can you easily cut the power to the heated hand grips and clear the codes?

This would at least tell you for sure what circuit is causing the problem

You may want to check your fuses also to see if any are blown

Found the problems

First I like to say thanks for all the great help!

I started checking the heated grips first and found nothing wrong there. But as I was checking the fire by wire there it was.

The ground wire pin had pulled out of the plug. Making all kinds of problems. It even caused a couple of fuses to pop. After replacing the blown fuses and correcting the ground pin in the plug. Everything has return to normal . Boy did I think I really screwed up!
