I did a search but I know someone posted or asked a question about this. Riding today up the Coast of Oregon and I noticed a clear liguid slowly running down the face of the speedometer. I wiped it with my glove thinking it was water from washing the trike earlier this morning but realized that it was on the inside of the gauge. Someone on the site said something about this and thought it was oil. I am thinking of the same thing. It runs down very slow. Is this something that is a warranty issue? I have never had this problem with gauges before.

There are some instruments that use a silicon dampener oil to keep the needles from being so jumpy. I don't know if Harley does this though....

I thought it was a problem when I got my 1st Harley bagger, took it to the dealer who said they could replace the gauges, but the new ones would do it also. I left it as is, the following year I bought a new bike which had the same problem. The gauges are not sealed which means they can develop condensation. My 06 Ultra will get condensation in all the gauges when I take it from a cool garage out into a hot humid environment, its been doing it since I bought it new in September 2005.

I thought the gauges were sealed. I checked and the moisture had dried up. If it was oil, then there would have been still some visiable. All I see is what looks like water marks. I did wash the trike the day before.

Unfortunately they don't seal the gauges, its the nature of the beast. Some folks don't have the issue and some do depending on the humidity of where they live.
