2014 Air Cleaner

Many of you probably already know. But I just replaced my 2013 air cleaner assembly with a take off 2014 unit. It's a direct fit. My Harley dealer already had a take off. I like the looks of the 2014 unit. The tried and true oval is kind of outdated in my opinion. I had my 2013 Tri-Glide in the dealership to fix the air suspension bleed off i was experiencing. Got that fixed and they slapped the air cleaner unit on for me. Thought I would pass that little bit of info on.pepper

If you are replacing the entire air box, that's true. If you have a stage 1 air box on the Trike and want just the new '14 cover, it is not a direct bolt on, requires a longer bolt to attach to the filter. (Put one on mine a week ago).

I also like the new 2014 air breather. I found one on craigs list yesterday off a 14 Street Glide. Got it. Now just need to get it on my trike.

Of course. I keep all take offs so I can get as close to stock as possible in case I decide to trade down the line. Only thing I can't go back to stock on is the cam.

Well Dang.. I bought a whole new 2014 Street Glide just to get the Air Cover.. :gah: Just kiddin.. I did buy the new Amber Whiskey ( Orange ) 14 Street glide and I do like the new cover ..

azbob09, The Rider Footboard Heel Guard is a Harley part. Got it at my Harley dealer 02/04/2012. Harley part number 50500225. Price was $64.95.
I just checked the Harley web site and it says it can't find the part number. It may have been discontinued since I got mine.

Thanks guys, I found it in the 2014 catalog by that part#. Ironically I just saw one on a TG in Prescott, Az. this afternoon & will probable get one this week at my HD dealer.

Are the 2014 air cleaners better for performance?
Do they keep the little oil that collects from after servicing the filter in the cover from blowing back on pipes?
On the Oval after an oil change service / clean of the oil filer with the machine that apply s some oil back to the filter, I always have to watch for the first couple of rides and clean the cover as some oil so it does not allow some back on the exhaust. It looks like it might, but wondering if anyone has notice the difference.

I haven't noticed any difference. I did it purely for the cosmetic effect.

Good to know. Do you know just how much longer the bolt is ?

I've been watching 'em on eBay and Craigslist and the prices are unreal. I ordered a new one (cover only) from my dealership with my choice of insert for 1/2 of price they're selling for on those sites.

Most of 'em are pretty reasonable. Bout what you pay for a NEW cover at HD but every now and then some of 'email get wild. See eBay number 200990000029.

If looking for the new 14 air breather one can try looking on their local Craigs List. That's where I found mine. It was brand new taken off a 2014 Street Glide.
I've seen some complete air breathers off the 14's on there ranging from about $30 to $50.
Complete meaning backing plate, vent hoses, filter, and cover. If one get the complete air breather and not just the cover it's a direct bolt up. Took me about 15 minutes to change mine.
Also here is the info Steve "Lizard" sent me on the bolts to mount just the cover:
Lowes part numbers:

63317 5/16x16/1" hex head bolt
63303 3/8" nut

Couldn't find a 1/2" spacer that would fit on the bolt, so I got the nut to go between the inside of the cover and the filter. Cost me $.32
