Remembrance Of Pearl Harbor

Although I had not been born at the time, growing up in the 1950's the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was common knowledge to all of my friends. Even up into the 1980's we would be reminded of this day with flags at half-staff and small Veteran Events would dot the country where fellow Americans would patriotically remember the start of a worldwide engagement against aggression.

Scantly noticed today, 79 years later, Government Schools and buildings no longer fly Old Glory at half-staff, some don't even fly the US Flag period. I am sure that yesterday's view of those events will be written off as the results of American Colonialism, just as the events of September 11. 2001 will also fade into oblivion, only to be replaced future and more subtle and long enduring attacks by our enemies.

Your generation may be the last to repeat this knowledge to a younger generation, so be thorough.

God Bless America and The Greatest Generation of Americans.

Patriotism ended when money got involve....Just look at 9 11....Every one is and still suing anybody they can for something the terrorist did not us the USA ......Just building a memorial took billons and years to complete because of all the Tin Suit experts and lawsuit's...

Imagine trying to build a Memorial for the Arizona today...

Mighty MIKE

I had a chance to visit the Arizona Memorial. There were more Japanese there than Americans. Couldn't understand a word they were saying. Maybe a good thing. Was shocked to see the list of brothers who died that day on the Arizona.

Very moving. And yes it is and was still leaking oil.

This is just ancient history to the younger generation not taught in our schools. You can see how this country is slowly

sliding into socialism. California is a one party state already and if the Demo win the senate it's on the fast track to

total Marxism. God help the U.S.A.

My Dad was a quiet man, stationed at Guam when Pearl was attacked. Never talked about the War. In the 80's ,I was able to have MOM & DAD fly to Hawaii for a vacation. Like you said there were more Japs at the Memorial than Vets. I guess some were laughing at something & Dad got so mad, he threatened to throw them off the Memorial. They shut up !! Dad was in the Navy for over 9 yrs,(he wanted a career in the Navy)but his dad passed,so he got out to help Gramma. Thanks to the Vets of WW2.

My Father-In-Law's ship was berthed exactly where the Arizona is with no plans to leave for another 24 hours. Arizona was considered a higher class ship so orders went out to recall all sailors and his ship left 24 hours early. His ship left to join a convoy in the Pacific. 24 hours later is history.

I just made the same observation on the Goatlocker website (site for Navy CPOs). It’s a shame that no one even mentioned it on the news sites today. I saw no stories, no salutes, or memorials to commemorate it at all. Sad indeed.

This generation coming up has little clue about the sacrifices this country has made, Even sadder is the institutions we trust to educate the young people has turned a blind eye to any and all wars. This is sad to know our future generations will not know the truth and respect the great sacrifices in the name of their freedom.

Don't you get it.......The [New] immigrants to this country..Whether they come from Europe, Asia Mexico or South America...Don't consider them self as Americans and never will ....Even if they become Nationalized....They come here for free stuff without having to work for it....

So once they are here they' Instead of Working to better themselves they band together and turn their neighborhoods into shit holes just like where they came from...And the countries where they came from are very happy for them to leave...Just because you are poor....Doesn't mean you have to be slobs...

If the draft doesn’t restart , there will be NO USA Army , Navy , Marines ect. In 20 yers, if not sooner. Then this protesting generation will half to upgrade there frozen water bottles .

The problem is who you gonna draft.....These youths of today aren't draftabule...:(..

It’s a learning process , do —— or die ! They will learn quick. They need mock combat. It’s the only way no one will get locked up for friendly fire ....

The World is moving fast, There isn't time to train a bunch of malcontents...

Then Sleepy Joe better wake up real soon ..

China is just about ready to go into Taiwan ......Thats gonna be someones wakeup call..

Or maybe Sleepy Joe will will dig up Chamberlain sent him over to Beijing so when he gets back a the airport in DC he Chamberlain will wave a piece of paper and shout ''Peace in our time''.........I mean China will stop at Taiwan right...The piece of paper stoped Hitler didn't it.......;);)...

I have been to the Arizona Memorial a few times. I re-enlisted on it in 1982. Got the flag, letter and such. Seen a lot of Japanese visitors there and a lot of tears from all different nations.
