Picked up my FLHXXX

I think the Phoenix metro area has seven Harley dealers. I went to six of them looking for an FLHXXX as I didn't want all the bling on the Tri Glide. Interesting experience. Dealer 1, "we'll call around and see if one is available and call you back." They never called back. Dealer 2, "we know where one is, but we get MSRP plus $5000.00 for all trikes." Dealer 3, "we have one in our Idaho store" and they made a very fair offer for my bike and the price on theirs. Only issue was it would take about $500.00 to get it shipped down. Dealer 4, way the heck on the opposite side of the valley from where I am, but they had one in stock with the luggage rack and passenger backrest installed. Full price on bike and accessories plus installation for the accessories and a very high dealer prep charge. Also low ball offer on my bike. Told Dealer 3 let's do it. They called back a couple of hours later and said they found one closer so we didn't need to worry about freight. Picked it up today. It was the one from Dealer 4 and Dealer 3 kept to the price we had negotiated and threw in the accessories. 50 mile ride back home was interesting. Sure handles different and that Street Glide seat has to go. It's about 105 today and I was hot as heck driving my bike over (2009 Electra Glide with no cat). On the 50 mile ride back I really couldn't tell any difference on the new one except at traffic lights. You could feel the heat, but in Phoenix in the summer all air cooled engines are HOT since there the air is also HOT. Was hot but not as hot as I was expecting from all the hoo haa on the various wires. Anyway, I'm leaving for a trip and won't be back until July 5. So, that will give me time to figure out what type of seat I want to put on it and any other driver comfort accessories I might need.

Let me be the 1st to congratulate you on your new trike. 500 miles and you will get used to steering it. Just remember to forget "counter steering". That will just get you in trouble in an emergency. Good work negotiating your way through the H-D weasel gauntlet.:Joker3:

Now all you need is a crotch cooler and it will relieve most of the heat issues. Capt'n Itch makes the best. Tell him that Annette Parker told you about the CC. Captain Itch - Quality Motorcycle Leather Goods You will not be sorry. They can make it plain or fancy! I'll post a picture of mine under my beautiful Mustang Seat!
I need to update my profile picture anyway! Congrats on getting the coolest trike!

Leaving on a trip for two weeks would really bother me if it were winter. (When Phoenix temps are in the 70's.) But, since it's summer and the temps are so high riding is downright uncomfortable, the two weeks will let me think out a few comfort mods and plan a trip up to Northern Arizona. Much cooler up in the pines. Glad I found this site before buying, lot of good information here.

Got my 2011 Ultra Trike, heat not as bad as I expected. Did not care for the trike at first, momma said we were going to keep it anyway, she loves it. Trip from Ky to Savanna Ga, 800 miles later, I also love our new ride. You will to.

3 wheels grow on you real quick. You are standoffish at first then you can't get off it.

Pettifogger1,

I just got my FLHXXX here in Phoenix too! Just taking short 5:30 AM rides (staying out of the heat) to get used to it and already love it.

Just got back from two weeks on the road. Have to change the seat and add a rider's backrest and then I will put on a few miles. What color did you get? How much did your dealer quote you for the 1000 mile check-up? I usually do these things myself, but as hot as its been I'm mildly considering letting a dealer do it if I can find one that doesn't think he's selling me three new tires as part of the job. Dealer closest to my house wants over $400.00!!!

I had the dealer do the 1K checkup but not change the fluids I did it myself, the price was still around 300 bucks. Labor is high in the area.

Ipicked my new FLHXXX Street Glude Trike about three weeks ago and after 1000+ miles i love it!!! Great ride and easy to handle with plenty of power. Nothing fancy on it just stock. Luv the way it looks and its fast for a trike! The 103 engine dose it justice!!! :10::BootieShake:
