Trike Rear Lift

I put a set of brackets on my Triglide to raise the rearend mainly to keep it from dragging the pipes. They make it look better because it sets level now, no handling affects at all. Have not hit the pipes on the ground one time even though I have 4 inch exhaust. Only raised it 1 1/2 inches at the shock but raised the tail pipes even more. At 130.00 it is a buy if only to save my exhaust.

Does it make it easier to remove the tires in the rear?

I didn't know these were even being made -- been thinking about making a set for my trike but for the price I'll buy these

I just ordered mine. It looks like it's just what I wanted. My Bushtec trailer has a slight nose-down attitude that I bet this bracket will go a long way towards fixing.

Thanks for your ingenuity.

I made my own 1.5 inches and they really do make a difference. No more dragging the mufflers and makes your hitch not hit the ground also. I have not found anything unfavorable about the raise in the back of the trike and you can see it would help taking the rear tires off.

That actually looks like a good idea. I am always hitting my pipes. Anyone know if the H-D dealers have any problem, warranty wise, with using lifters? I have a 2010 Tri-Glide with 7 year warranty that is gold for the mileage I do.

I am very pleased with the lift on my spouses FHLXXX. It was the naked XXX as opposed to Dan’s XXX with the tour box and all the FLHT gadgets. The pics with the trailer is Dan’s Trike and he rides two-up most often and runs 50PSI from day one, still bottoming out from time to time and quite often pulling that trailer. His trailer was loaded to the hilt last year and probably weighed 300 or better. It is empty for these pics but still weighs in at around 170,but the pics don’t show how low it normally is as we didn’t have a passenger available for pictures and the tongue weight at the time of photography
Is only 18 lbs. Loaded is about 40. His trailer is a Legend.

Now on the wife’s Trike; she is towing a 115 lb empty Motorvation Trailer, around 215 loaded normally and she rides solo. So these pics are at 28PSI which is a little stiff for her solo without the trailer so with the lift I will try 28 with the trailer and probably drop to 22 without. I weigh 240 and with the lift riding home at 28 the bike felt pretty darned right to me. It was always OK handling for me but a little loose feeling in the front end over dips and bumps, especially after we changed her front tire to an Avon Venom.

The Venom is slightly larger in diameter than the stock Dunlop and puts a little wider tread bite on the road which amplified the handlebar wag back and forth over uneven bumps and dips. After the lift within the first 50 yards I was liking the way it was feeling and after the 3 mile ride home I was loving it. NO MORE WAG! The bars stayed solid and true over bumps, dips, freeway joints and on and off ramps. I was amazed at how much more in control it felt and I am absolutely positive it is the best $130 I’ve spent on this FLHXXX to date.

I’ve ridden near a ½ million miles on various bikes and done a ton of upgrades to date, but for the difference in ride and control I felt on this first short ride $130 was a real bargain. I’m one of those people that feel everything on a bike. I’ve ridden my bike home from and dealer and know the air pressure is down in a tire by 3 or 4 pounds or that the steering head is a bit loose and the like. It’s not because I’m a pro mechanic or anything special, it’s just that I’ve ridden so many miles and when I ride I indulge completely in the ride, the feel of the bike, and every turn, smell and sound. I just love to ride. Riding is what I do to feel relaxed and alive. So I notice things like this and I’m impressed.

Dan just called me. He took my advice and dropped the air pressure to 35 and went for a short ride before our daily rain downpour this spring and first words out of his mouth was, “Wow, what a difference, I like it, best money I’ve spent on this Trike.” He can’t wait to try it with his passenger and trailer.

Thank you Dennis for posting. Just FYI for the forum after looking at the pictures on Dennis's web page IMO the brackets will not work on a Chanmpion conversion, but it sure puts the thought out there.
Pull a wheel, take a picture and post, let us see the difference.
Dennis

I don't know about anyone else, but if I had the chance to lift my Lehman
conversion, it would happen so fast, the Big Red Sled would be dizzy!

I do not know anyone locally that has a conversion. I had to remove the stock bracket from my TG to scan into my CAD program to convert to the water jet program.
The hole spacing and size were critical so it took all guess work out of it.
If your conversion suspension is similar to the TG, this would be doable if interest of other forum members is there. I would not discriminate against them.
A picture would be nice-------- for a start.

Will try to get a picture for you this week. I would sure buy a set!!
Would be way better and cheaper than a Legend suspension upgrade, with unknown results!

I rode Lynn's trike to work yesterday to check out the Fuelmoto headpipe, A/C and
Power Commander Vision setup (stock mufflers) that we just had done. It ran GREAT !
When I left the garage I park at near work I heard SCRAPE ... Dammm ....
I knew I should have put on those lift brackets I got from you ;-)
It wasn't even that bad an incline leaving the garage.
Needless to say ... putting those brackets on are now at the TOP of my TO DO LIST !
LOL ....
Rob .....

Rob,
Did you mount the vision tuner to the bars?
After this trip next week, I will probably get an air cleaner and that same tuner. I am interested in what tune I can get with stock mufflers / stock head pipe with CAT removed and air cleaner.
Taking out the CAT and wraping with header tape helped allot with pipe heat. If I want a cooler engine, guess now the only way would be a tuner.
And quit DRAGGING your rear and get the brackets on:yes:

Dennis,
Jamie at Fuelmoto had a map loaded when he sent it to me. That is why I like using him.
He goes the extra mile for his customers. I can send you the map OR if you buy it from
him they will load it for you. No I did not mount it to the bars yet. Since it is Lynn's Trike
I do not think she cares to look at it BUT I will probably mount it with my Ram mount
stuff I use. I will just run the wire so I can take it off easily so I can use it on my
Ultra which has a PC III (or buy another wire if I can). Supposely you can use the Vision
to monitor stuff on bikes equipted with a PC but CANNOT use the Vision to recalibrate them.
Only can calibrate the bike the Vision is married too.
Maybe do the lift on Sunday since it is suppose to rain here.
If it is nice out she is riding it .... LOL ....
Already has 8k on it !
Rob ....

Didn't realize I didn't have pic's loaded here. I'll load some tonight !
You can see tons of my YouTube video's here ....

From all the good reports about Jamie, I plan to buy from him. I figured that by now they would have a map close enough for my liking.
Sounds like you both are enjoying the ride.

FYI ....
My thinking was wrong ....
I just called Dynojet and they said you CANNOT connect PV to a Power Commander.
It will connect to the stock EFI unit via data input.
You can only get CERTAIN codes and NOT all the info that you can from a PV.
They DO SELL a LCD unit for $300 (that connects to as Power Commander) that does
let you load maps on the fly and you can also record stuff to a data card that can be
then transfered to your PC.

Rob ......

Just curious, raising the rear end seems like a no brainer.Does the modification effect your warranty? Having problems getting Harley to specify what ramp angle is needed for entry without bottoming out various components.

I have put on a little over 500 miles since putting these on, and very happy with the way it looks and handles. It made the trike sit level. If you did not own a trike you would not even notice the lift, It looks the way it should have came that way. Yet if you park next to another one, very noticable, and much nicer.

Do you have the brackets powered coarted or painted??

The reason why I ask is that once I tightened up the bolts the paint or powered coat came off around the bolt hole areas.

Other than that I found that the ride with the legend air suspension versus stock was a better ride.

Also found the best way to take the wheels on and off was to make sure the shocks has max air pressure in them and the rear axle was at its lowest point. Made the wheels come on and off a lot easier. The new brackets did make it even easier I found. Still a bit tight but now its a lot eassier than the stock setup.

They are powder coated. I have not had any problems to date with powder coating. I left them for 15 min. after they flowed as that powder required. I now am having a commercial powder coat doing them as I do not have enough oven power to do the amount needed now.
I may have not got the base metal hot enough on that set.

Ordered a set tonight (my real name is Doug Brown). I measured the clearance on my stock exhaust and I know the 4 inch SE mufflers I have ordered are going to drag going in to my parking lot at work. Hope these help.
