Hoping and praying that all you folks on the Texas Gulf Coast are safe and sound. I KNOW you are not dry but hope your homes are not flooded.

Not sure how accurate the Weather Channel reports are for the ENTIRE Houston area - they seem to be filming from street scenes that don't look all that bad. They do show that the bayous are flooded, as they always are when it rains. During the 2015 floods I told my boss down there he needed to buy a Duck - he could pay for it in one season giving people a ride to work and home. I don't know why the City of Houston doesn't invest in some of them just for rescues. Ya'll stay safe.

I belong to many forums and the reports from each person isn't that great, there has been a loss of property, many flooded in apartment buildings, cars submerged or trapped where they are living. One person waded to their boat on a trailer and untied it and is going to help in the rescue effort.

We've had almost 4 inches since midnight, wind is still gusting and the rain continues....

Feel blessed as we're in better shape than others.

Heading into work to access the situation for our overnight team. Leaks are getting worse and we still have rain in the forecast up till this coming weekend.

Oh WOW Randall.... no rest for the weary! I guess ya'll had to raid Lowe's and Home Depot for buckets, mops, and tarps?

As of 3:00 this afternoon my nephew told me he had gotten 7 inches of rain at Fischer's Store area west of Wimberley and his Mom at Kyle had gotten right at 9".

His sister got out of Houston Friday afternoon and has no idea whatsoever when she will be able to get back in.

On the other hand, a friend of his was at ConCan in the hill country by Leaky and drove back home to Houston - he doesn't know if she was able to actually get to her home or not and can't figure out WHY she even wanted to try....me neither.

I'm in Cypress, which is just outside of beltway 8 (basically NW Houston). So far, my house is dry and we have power, but we have had somewhere near 20 inches of rain since Friday night (according to the weather maps). Probably not far off, because I have pumped out about 6 inches of water from the pool 3 times already.

The creek near the house set a new record level today and is still predicted to rise another foot. The picture below was taken by one of my friends (I have not ventured out). It is just around the corner from my house.

I have friends that have gotten over a foot of water in their house and some with cars that flooded while parked in their apartment parking lots.

But I haven't heard of anyone that I know being hurt and that is all that really matters.

Hey Carla, no kidding...can't even get a full day off :gah:

Thank goodness we have an great on sight housekeeping team. They've been keeping up pretty good. Water is squeegeed and sucked up by a floor machine. We have had work request out for the repairs since last month, they are working on it but not quick enough. The product has been moved to prevent further damage...

The culprit is our solar panels on the roof, seems the frame mount is pulling out on the backside due to wind and weight put on it. Second is the patch from our expansion from years back.

Bottom line is this is Austin Texas and were not used to seeing so much rain ever!

Working straight through the week, next day off is Sunday :cxtv:

We live approx. 80 miles northwest of downtown Houston in Bellville. As of 05:30 this morning we have had 22" of rain with more to come. We are not in danger of flooding as our house is on top of a small rise and the property drains towards a creek at the back of our property, about 1,100 feet from the house. Our problem is trees. So far we have had 4 trees fall over due to the ground be soaked to the point that it is just mush. Over night one large oak tree (30" diameter) fell over and took two more smaller (12" to 15" diameter) trees with it. The 30" tree has small branches actually touching our front bedroom roof but the main part of the tree missed. It landed about 10 ft. short of our propane tank. If it had landed on it that could have been real interesting. I hope we can get through this without getting a tree down on the house or garage!

We have lots of friends and family that still live in the Houston area where we lived for 40 plus years, so far none of them are flooded or damaged to my knowledge but they have all had 18"plus inches of rain as of last night about 7:00 pm.

I have lived in hurricane country all of my 68 years and I have never seen anything like this.

Will just have to see if we are still going to be able to make the Hill Country trip in October. Depends on what happens between now and then.

The local news has the rain measured at 11 Trilion gallons that fell That must be one hell of a funnel with a water meeter atached to it. !

Been awhile since I got here and was just signing in to find out that very thing. Know he got flooded not that long ago so this must be a bad dream to him.

He is posting on facebook that his neighborhood is on mandatory evacuation.Sadly I believe it will be a replay for him.

What gets me really angry , is seing merchants charging $40-100 for water as well as other necessarys. Don't these jocky's realise that Texans cary ?

Some areas are reporting over 50" of rain. I cannot even imagine those amounts.
