Late nighters---unite!!!

That's probably the only reason I stay in the NE. Weather here is not as severe as at the flatlands. Getting some mutch needed rain tonite and fri. Don't have lots of acerage as you got, just 1/2 acre with 3 large overgrown oaks that scare me when the winds come. Might be time for some serious trimming, b4 they up-root on my house .

I escaped the really severe weather last evening. It looked like we were going to catch hell because of the lightening and howling winds. The old river bluffs on the west of me have a way of moving storms around to the north or south, but when they turn back on us it is time to take shelter. Last year a storm went thru and took hundreds of trees down and the damage was pretty tremendous. Getting from one place to another was like a maze. We were known as the tree city, -not so much anymore, also the Gem City.
Wow. That's a lot of damage. Now I don't feel so bad about what happened to my TG.

Today, I took my daughter to her Taekwondo class. On the ride back home, for some reason I looked down at the left side of the motor, and there I saw my horn just hanging!! The bracket looks like it's just rusted clean in two. I had the dealership mount a set of Ward's fans to it. I'm hoping they won't try to blame it on that. If they thought there would be a problem, I'd think they would have told me.

Eh well, who knows if something like that is even covered by warranty anyhow.

Yeah, it was a lot of damage, everywhere. Those are just a few random pictures from the storm. I had already cut every tree down that could reach my home to prevent any damage from unpredictable storms, because of my career experiences. I worked a large number of storms, tornadoes, and floods throughout my career with the phone bones. A lot of time spent in Chicago and surrounding areas as well as St. Louis/East St. Louis, Champagne-Urbana, Peoria, Decatur naming a few. So I was always aware of the havoc they can instantly create. I volunteered for everyone that came about so I could make some big bucks from the consistently long hour 7 day weeks. It is one of the reasons I could retire at such an early age. The downside was living in hotels for months and missing the family. I worked nearly every disaster within a 500 mile radius - it paid off big time for me and helped those hit hard by the events.

That is like being in jail when you lose your outside connection. Glad you got your freedom back.

Tell me about it!! I felt trapped for that small amount of time. We even lost our internal websites. That rarely happens all at once.

Somebody in DC must have been on it almost as soon as it happened for us to be back up in an hour and a half.

OH--forgot to say--rode to work for the first time this year. We have an oversized spot that is designated "Motorcycles Only", and guess what...a car was parked in it. Right in the middle.

So, I parked catty-corner behind it partially blocking him in (yeah I know who it belonged to, and I like the guy, so I didn't completely block him in). Still, it gets my goat that people park in the motorcycle spot.

At our local hospital, we have MC spots in a covered garage. There's a MD that has a BMW that I've seen regularly parked there, the trike takes up 2 spots. However never seen more than us two there at any time.

As the weather warms up, there will be at least 2 to 3 bikes per shift parked in the space (it is large), provided somebody doesn't park their car there beforehand. I'll bet when I go outside, there will be at least one more bike parked in the spot. A guy from foodservice comes in on his Firefighter Harley at around 4am.

I've seen as many as 4 bikes parked in the parking place at one time.

Don't even get me started on MDs. At our local hospital, they park wherever they please....handicapped spots, clerical spots, you name it. They think they are privileged, even thought they actually have parking places just for the docs.

Alright guys, still no trike. Another setback. You saw the picture with the body installed. Well apparently it didn't fit well. It required a stack of washers 3 inches high on the right side to make it level. Causing all kinds of alignment problems. That body is off and they have prepped and painted another body to be installed on my trike on Monday. Wish me luck this time.

That's the million dollar question around here.

I guess at least he's not having as much trouble as another guy up in the northeast that the builder has had his bike for conversion since OCTOBER 2014!!!! I'd threaten to strike a match to the place, if it were me in that poor guy's place.

The institution is holding a bike show/ride today at 2pm. It's showing about a 40% chance of rain and climbing after that. We're either going to get wet, or the ride part of it will be called off. Maybe we'll just do a bike show and eat our meals.

I'm hoping there is a dirtiest bike award...I'll for sure win that one.:D

In for another night. Hopefully somebody will be here to chat with tonight.

There was a light rain going on at the time of the ride that was scheduled for 2pm today at work, and there was no rain date, so I assumed it was rain or shine. The oldest daughter and I loaded up and took off. Got to the gathering spot, and not a soul was there. Came back home (luckily only 5 miles each way), and called the guy who organized it to make sure it was cancelled. He told me he made every effort to call all who committed to the ride. :xzqxz: I find that hard to believe, because if he really wanted to get our phone numbers, all he had to do was call work and ask (only 6 of us committed to ride from the institution). That's how I got his phone number.

Everybody has told me the guy is super lazy and doesn't honor commitments, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I worked with him at another institution, and he didn't seem that way there, but that was 12 years ago.

I'll just know better the next time he sponsors a ride.

Sorry the ride didn't work out, but at least you and Britany (sp) got some trike bonding time together.

Bridget :D

Yeah, that 15 minutes made a difference. When she got off the bike, she said "I'm going in to dry off."

It was actually raining fairly hard on the way back home.

Yep, I spelled it wrong! Sorry

Yeah, if I was riding with Britany, I'd be divorced.

I was going to ride in tonight, but it was raining kinda hard so I didn't. I thought about putting on the rainsuit and doing it anyway, but glad I didn't because it started pouring as I got close to work.

Forgot to say...

Bridget is just okay with the trike. She misses the Night Train. Why? She told her mom that when we go around curves or make turns, it feels like she's flying the when the bike leans.

Truthfully, I kinda miss that myself. She was a good little rider too. I always told her to not try to lean in any way. Just keep herself straight in the seat. She did as she was told. It was like nobody was even back there. If fact, she would often get so relaxed I would feel her helmet slumped against my back. She would go to sleep!!!

I miss the leaning in the curves also so........about 2 weeks ago I bought an 05 Vstar 1100 Classic, fully loaded complete with hypercharger and Hard Chrome pipes.... It had just under 18,000 miles. Drove to VA and back (26 hour round trip with no sleep) to pick up. Soon as I got back dropped off at shop to have a tune up and fluids changed.

Damn that sucker is fun to ride!!! Most of my riding has been at night to/from work but it's still fun.

Yep, I do a lot riding at night too. It's why I wanted lighted hand controls so badly. There are so many thumb switches on the TG it's crazy. Really cuts down on the fumbling, and scaring myself to death accidently honking the horn.

Holy crap time is crawling by. And I know I'm going to get hosed on relief. I was here at 11:25 last night, and I'll bet my relief won't be here until at least 7:35.

It seems I spend too much time from home. Not another home in the neighborhood has this problem. One in back and one in the front of house. :Crap:
