Long story. The short of it is that we are picking up my father in law's 1967 Gretsch after it was repaired. What is going on in Chi-Town that draws you into its clutches?

Probably to get in some target practice....:cxtv::xszpv:
Just so happens that I'm prepared if the need arises.<br />That has a high degree of probability even if it isn't a goal he has set.

Chet Atkins model. The headstock was broken completely off. What did the guitar need? What model is it?
It covers me. I am federal after all. But, just in case, I called the Willis Tower folks before we got there. They just had an off duty CPD officer verify my ID, and I was able to go on up. They didn't even have me put my belongings through the X-ray machine. Really nice bunch of people.Welcome back.
Does your LEOSA permit cover you in Chicago or are you just winging it?
How does the guitar look? Must be someone special for you to take to them that far away?
Wow, great job! It's amazing what a true craftsman can do.
When you said "broke the headstock clean off" I visualized a face first front fall. I've seen two more just like this. 200 or so pounds of string tension and the tilted back headstock smacking the floor :AGGHH::gah:...:xszpv:

That is beautimus !!
I'd love to be able to play that for an hour or two.
Where is the crack?
I tried to post a pic, but it won't let me for some reason or other :xzqxz: It starts just below the soundhole and runs about halfway to the bridge. To be honest, I hadn't taken it out of the case in several months, and was horrified right at first. But I contacted Paul, and he said no worries. I should add it runs where the 2 halves of the soundboard were joined.
Checked your humidifier lately? Hydrate it well, and it might close back up.
