Will be going on Vacation in Sept. Was planning a trip to Vegas ( been there and have a friend there) but I really like to check out Branson,Mo....Seems like it would be a nice place to visit?

Vegas is about a 12 hour trip Branson is just under 11....:

the two places are so different, that you really cannot compare them. vegas has lots more adult-type entertainment, while branson is pretty much family-oriented. there's nothing wrong with either, they're just different. i have been to vegas several times, and enjoy it tremendously. same thing for branson.(am planning on going there the weekend after the 4th for a ford truck show)
if it's possible, do both! if that's not possible, then, wow, tough choice! as for prices, it all depends on what you see, where you eat,etc.. deals can be had both places, or, you can go first class, and spend lots both places. hope this helps

Thanks everyone for your input. I will talk to the Wife and see what she says.
Will be four wheeling it.....There is one show I like to see (Spirit of the
Dance".

If you have any recommendations on Hotels, places to go eat send it my way..

I am very easy going..

If I had to choose just one, I would vote for Branson. Been to Vegas, and live a few hours from Branson. They both exist to seperate you from your money, but Branson isn't as near aggressive about it. Also, living here I might be partial, but the riding seems to me to be a lot more interesting in the Ozarks than around Lost Wages. It is hard to find miles of straight road hareabouts if you stay off the freeway, and I like riding in the woodlands. I found there was a whole lot of not much in the desert. (My opinion only! I know folks that get bored looking at trees.)

Let us know what you decide - there are folks on this board from around both places that will be glad to tell you where to go. Wait- that didn't come out quite right. Well, you know what I mean.

Sorry, can't help with Branson, although I've heard it's a really nice area.

Vegas.....do you mean the strip, or downtown? If you mean the strip, I'd recommend the Imperial Palace. Pretty much middle of the strip, and it's an older hotel with less "glitz" so it's cheaper (but still clean according to my sister in law). If you mean downtown, I've stayed at both the Plaza and Golden Gate - again, both are older so they're cheaper, and of the two my preference was the Golden Gate. I LOVE the Golden Nugget, but it's a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Have a great time whichever one you choose!! (If you hit Vegas, say "Hail" to Caesar for me please! ;) I haven't been to visit in a couple years, so I'm sure he's ticked at me by now. :D)

My wife and I did the Belle a few years ago, pretty good show, food was good, but not of a 4-star restaurant level and the lunch cruise was $50 per person. About inlike with some of the other shows, considering you get a boat ride, a show and a meal

Haven't ever stayed in a hotel there, (The campground at the landing below Old Branson is crowded in the summer, but quite nice.) and most of the shows are of pretty equal quality taking in account price ranges.

One thing that is a must see: Dicks 5and 10 in old (historic) Branson. It is an
old fashion Dime Store, packed with interesting stuff. It is like going back in time 40 or 50 years. (The stock, not the prices.)

Thanks for the info...I will add "Dicks 5and 10 in old (historic) Branson" to the list.

Re: Branson,Mo visit

So far I will be heading out to Branson on Wed Sept 08 and will arrive sometime during the evening.

On Thurs Sept 09- we are doing the showboat belle @ 4:00PM

Friday 10- Spirit of Dance @ 10:00 AM ( thinking of another show called broadway at 3:00PM)

Sat Sept 11- Nothing plan so far -( would like to catch the Acrobats of china show )....

Sun- Depart back to Colorado..

Would 3 days give me time to check out branson or should I stay an extra day and leave Monday?
