Did a search but nothing came up for the Freewheeler unless I missed it. Anyone running a rear tire on the front of their Freewheeler? If so, what make and where did you get it? I ran a rear tire on the front of my Goldwing trike and would like to do so on the Freewheeler if one is available.

Thanks,

Sunman

I'm wondering if the front fender would be an issue? Sure do wish someone would come out with a flatter profile tire for the front of trikes. Almost car like.

The freewheeler has a 130x19 front tire like the cvo bikes do. Very limited selection on tires. I have not found a rear tire that would work. It's a HD thing to buy a special tire from them. That is one of the reasons I sold our cvo. Special front and rear tire sizes.

So far I have not found one either. Looks like I am stuck with the OEM tire. However, J & P Cycle has it for $112.00 which is way less that the price in the Harley Parts Book. I had a 2005 Electra Glide Classic CVO but it had standard size tires so I had a lot of choices. Several friends have later year CVOs and they are stuck with the Harley OEM tires.

I never understood why H-D went from a 130/18 front to a 130/19. Huge tire selection in 18's and hardly anything in a 19.
Our Street Glide has a 130/70/18 Dunlop front tire. When it comes time to replace it,I might go with either a Michelin or Avon 150/80 rear tire on the front.

When I was riding my Tri-Glide there were 2,387,450 threads about running a rear tire on the front. I also read if you mounted a rear tire on the front upside down and sidewise and only rode backwards your gas mileage would quadruple and your handlebars would last twice as long.... if you had a tuner :D

Yep, but I didn't have a tuner. Next time I will.

I just read this gem from Screwball and literally sprayed my coffee all over my computer!:clapping:

But then screwball your talking about a tri glide not a freewheeler. Big difference.
I will end up with a 130x17 front wheel in time.

You forgot the part about the Martian lander test.

Seriously though, Kevin of DK Customs put a reversed front tire on his 2014 TG. A quick PM to him would reveal what the truth of the situation is.

I ran a rear tire on the front of my GL1800 trike so I have experience with it. I had great mileage out of the tire and would put a rear on the front of the Freewheeler if I could find one that fit. I don't see any down side to running a rear tire on the front. As someone else suggested, I may have to change the wheel out at some point.

front tire

Why not just put a 18 inch front wheel and tire off of a street glide on the freewheeler, The SG wheel and tire are 1/2 inch taller than the freewheeler tire and wheel and every thing else measures the same so it should be just a bolt on. I haven't done it yet but I will try it this winter

I don't have a Freewheeler, although I would like to have one, so I never even click on to this forum. Have not even looked in here for months. So... The first time I look in here in forever, and low and behold the first thread is about putting a rear tire on the front.
And then I get to read a great blast from our "Tell it like it is" Buddy, Screwball !! ha ha ha!
He always lets everyone know where the bear sh*ts!! which I love ThumbUp

Since I don't have a Freewheeler, and don't feel that I have any business spouting on here anyway, I will just throw out that the quest to find a rear tire to fit the front of the FW is a noble goal and it would be great if you guys can find something that will work. But if the quest is to discuss if you actually should and what the good and bad stuff is, our Screwbally Friend is correct. If you do a search on this subject you will find more threads than you can read in a day fer sure.

Good luck to you guys trying to come up with a solution, and if you do, you will be very happy with the results. Many of us on here that started doing this years ago can attest to that. Except the Screwball.!! Ok,, I am outta here... See you Freewheeler guys in a few months..

mainly the sg front tire is the same size as the free except it's a 18 instead of a 19, The CVO SG front is the same as the free, 19.
The 2016 sg front tire is the same as the free is.
I want to go to a 17 inch wheel but with `130. Better selection and rear tires are plentiful. a 16 is a good option, good selection there to.
HD is putting odd sized wheels for a reason, specialty sized tires so you will get em from them.
I have been running rear tires in the front for some time now, it has spoiled me. Even on my 2 wheel bikes if I can.
Not into the car tire thing on the rear on 2 wheels. It's just fine for those that do.
If you haven't tried it don't knock it. It's kinda like the metric bike owners that have a attitude about HD's, the never had one but they knock all HD's.

There are lots of threads about a rear tire on the front, that I do know. Some of us is trying to find one for the free that works for us. Trying to help each other.

I like to read what screwball posts most of the time.

What Dirtdobber said. I was only asking if anyone had found a rear tire that fit the Freewheeler front wheel, not if it was a good idea or the pros and cons. I have already run a rear tire on the front of a trike.

Thanks,

Sunman
