What did you do to your Trike this week?

GrandpaDave,
All our best wishes go with you to make the procedure a successful one!
We will see you on the back roads next spring!

Yesterday I hooked up the battery tender on my trike since I will not be around to start it at all for the next two months. We're enroute to Rochester, MN (Mayo) right now so I can get a stem cell transplant to hopefully cure my lymphoma lung cancer and get back to riding in the spring.

We're looking forward to a good report on the stem cell procedure. Be assured our best wishes and prayers are with you. There have been many cancer treatment "miracles" in the last few years alone - stay positive and get well quick! ThumbUp

Best wishes. My wife had a very successful stem cell transplant in 2010 following her last relapse with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. September 4th was four years since the procedure and she's now healthier than I am.

Here if you need any info etc. PM and I'll respond with any info I can provide.

Prayers are with you for a successful transplant and rapid recovery.

GrandpaDave, I will be praying for you to have a speedy recovery. I am the NM State Chaplain of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association 47-1. I will keep you on the prayer chain. If you need anything give me a shout. Keep us posted. Jim

Bones158,
Please let us know the results of your project. Also, if you have photos, please post them.
Thanks.

Well, when I get home I have a trike related chore I have to do. One of my trailer tires is flat, I was told by my brother-in-law who is watching our house.
Have to get it fixed before we head to the Snowbird Gathering. Oh well, at least it is only one! LOL
What are you doing to your trike or like me, trike related, chore today?

Rosy

Hey skuuter, does it have disc brakes? Looks great, I bet you have lots if fun with it.

Rosy

OK John, I don't want to hear anything about my trike having way too many LEDs, now that you have added new lights. Just make sure you are in front of me next Northeast Rally when we go on a run! LOL
They look good, can you post some night time pictures with them on!

Rosy

Don't have to worry about that any time soon...BUT on a second note , If it ever warms up again ( 12 deg today ) I will drag it out and get a picture.

Technology has sure changed from the rubber pads on the rims of the tire to brake! LOL
I remember three speeds were the in, now they have 10+ speeds on bikes!
The trike looks comfy too!
Happy New Year everybody!

I also added + & - terminals to my battery to add more "stuff". I also added more terminals to my auxiliary end.
You need more plug ins to make everything work properly.

Got home from the Holidays there was a flat tire on the trailer that has the trike loaded to go to the Snowbird Gathering in February.
Luck may have been with me, first thing I checked before taking the tire off in the cold and snow was the new valve stem, yup, the inter valve on the valve stem was loose and air was coming out. Went out and bought a valve stem tool and tightened the inter valve stem and pumped it back up to 50 psi. Today, I will check the pressure and see if this was the problem. I also went around and made sure all the guts were tight on the rest of the tires and pumped them to 50 psi.
Wish me luck!

Rosy

Thanks guys. I am hopping the trip was as good as the one from New Mexico. Sunny weather all the way to NH.
Followed I 20 all the way to 95, then North!
It takes forever to get across Texas! LOL

Rosy

John, did you get a chance to take a few photos of your new LEDs?
Checked the tire pressure today, started at 50 psi, it was 49.5 psi. Will check tomorrow or later today to see if it goes down any more? It reads in .5 psi, so it could have been very close to 49.5 psi, but read 50 psi.

Rosy

Hurray :pepper: The pressure is holding on the trailer tire. So, I assume correctly (don't tell Janice or Deb, because they know I don't assume very well!) that it was the guts in the valve stem which was not tight! Don't have to remove the tire in the cold and snow!
Any new bling on your trike?

Rosy

Got a new 'shield in today, for the Valkyrie. Got the Clearview, I've used them before, they're hard, scratch resistant, and you can use Rain-X on them.

Lasts much better than the soft OEM shields.

It was a good day for a ride, but was busy with honey-do's. Haven't even installed the shield yet....

I have traxxion springs on order, plus the seals and bushings, to rework the front forks. The forks are in need of fork oil change, so it's a good time find out how the springs impacts the ride. I've read some good reports, and Road Smith endorses them.

Good idea, keep us posted on your results.
Your trike conversion company did not put in heavier springs in the front end when it was converted?
I know some of the conversion companies do the front end with heavier springs now days.

Rosy

Will do Rosy. Seems many things are options when doing a trike build. I could have one the Progressive springs for a $99 option, but I didn't. Looking back, maybe I should have, but I had not done my home work on that, so I did not. Got the EZ steer option which is pretty much the triple tree with the 5.5* rake, and that was almost $1K, so at the time, I probably thought I just was not spending another $99 on the suspension of that machine.

So now I'm spending more after the fact, go figure. But I think the Traxxion arrangement will a way better improvement than the progressives. I have no way of knowing that, just a gut feeling. Now if the seals were leaking, I'd feel a bit better with the the rebuild, but it's all in the price of the ride.
