Dyna with 32* rake ok for Trike build?

Considering a Frankenstein build on a late 90's FXDL with OEM dual front disc brakes and 32* rake (same frame as Dyna Wide Glide). Would I still need to spend money on raked trees, considering it's already 4-degrees more rake than most Dyna's being Triked?

Just a question, but isn't there a difference in the way you measure Rake and Trail between a raked neck and a racked tree. The angle of the pivot point is different and I though that made a difference in the way a trike steers. I though there was a difference in the two and how they perform on a trike. Curious to know.

Thanks for the link. Seems like it shows a raked neck with no raked trees does not decrease trail and a raked tree with raked neck decreases trail. I thought the reason you use raked tree rather than just a raked neck on a trike is to decrease trail. Maybe I misunderstood, I thought the original post meant he has a raked neck and does not want to use a raked tree. I am probably wrong, just curious.

I am also considering a Frankenstein build on my 1999 FXDWG that has a Stage 2 big bore kit. So you are saying that there is no need to spend extra money for the raked trees ? I was more concerned about the small diameter down tubes. I was thinking of selling the bike and get a 2007 FXDWG ( I love the bobtail fender that is why another FXDWG ) for the bigger diameter down tubes.

With the rake already in the WideGlide front end and not needing a rake kit, the addition of the Frankenstein trike kit will not change the trail. The trike kit wont add any real stress on the fork tubes. With that said, the bigger forks on a newer model are not a bad thing.

As a option, you might want to look into swapping the newer fork assembly to your 1999 bike.

The one thing you will have to accept is that having a narrow 21" tire, your front tire will wear faster. That rate of wear is dependant on how you ride the trike

I have an fxdwg but concerned it's too narrow of a front tire for a trike, hence my considering the late 90's FXLR with a marginally wider front tire and twin front disc brakes, all the better for stopping the extra 300+ pounds.
