Wifes 2007 Sportster 1200 with Frankenstein Trike upgrade

Re: Wifes 2007 Sportster 1200 with Frankenstein Trike upgrade

Anyone remember places like these???
I worked at a mom 'n pop station like this in high school '66 & '67.
No cover, washed EVERYONES windsheild, outside lube rack and MANUAL tire changer outside!!
I have to laugh at new gas station "attendants"!

Yea, FREE AIR, isn't that something!!??
At the station I mentioned above back in 66-67 if someone pulled up to our air pump ( like the one in the picture) I had to go out and put air in their tires. Also, every gas pumping I had to ask if they wanted their engine oil checked. No matter the weather.
Our gas was 36 cents/gal for the two years I worked there. Now it goes up/down that much in a week. Our best oil, Quaker State SUPERBLEND was 65 cents a qt, poured in for free! :>)

It sounds like you and I are in the same era.

I worked at a Shell station in North Willow Grove, PA. I still have a few free steak knives, glasses, and yellow plastic tire tread gauges that we handed out to the customers.

Hi, could you say if your sportster trike has a reverse drive on it? I am thinking not, but as long as one thinks about where they park its probably good. ?

So glad that I was sent the link to this forum and to your post.
I was in a MVA 3 years ago and my sportster has been up on a lift in my garage for the past 2 riding seasons. I was considering the Roadsmith conversion but that would be too heavy for my 883. Someone put me onto the Frankenstein kits and I have been pondering that one. I love the look of your wife's bike and can't wait to get my bike back on the road.

Re: Wifes 2007 Sportster 1200 with Frankenstein Trike upgrade

It doesn't have reverse but it moves VERY easily. She has no trouble moving it back since both feet on ground and no way to fall over. If she needs to back up an incline to park I'll give her a bit of push. No problems at all. It's not all that heavy. For a 'parking brake' she does what I do with my TriGlide. We both have a short strap of velcro we leave over our mirror and if parking on an incline we pull in brake lever and apply velcro strap.
Our trike job on her bike was done as a result of TWO back surgeries which left her bike sitting in the garage almost 2 1/2 years. It was sell it, or trike it. Now she wishes she had done it 5 years ago!

She decided she needed LEDs !
Now they'll see her coming at night.
95 orange ones was all we could fit on it well!

( red/merlot triglide is mine)
