Foot Peg Postion on a Goldwing

In 2010 I was offered a ride on a beautiful white Goldwing with a MotorTrike conversion. Didn't ride it because I couldn't comfortably get my leg/foot back to operate the brake. I just don't bend well that way. Has that changed or is there re-location foot peg accessory? Prefer HD foot peg location. Should be able to check out any suggestions in Sturgis this year??

Roadsmith makes an accessory that relocates the pegs down and forward. It is kinda pricey but looks like it could help. I have a Motor Trike with aqua shields and I think the front of the shields would get in the way of the Roadsmith setup. I purchased a Ultimate King seat that moved me back a ways and I am much more comfortable and so is the passenger. My wife said she never really noticed the fact that the seat back leaned back so far until we replaced the seat. She likes the Ultimate much better.

Same here, the Ultimate King seat makes a huge difference with leg placement, I would highly recommend this seat

When I was replacing my first trike, I was all set to go for a Harley specifically for the 'Foot Forward' position. That was when Roadsmith first came out with their 'Comfort Controls'. They move your foot position forward 3 inches and down 1 inch. Being that I really wanted a Wing, I kinda did a 'leap-of-faith' and ordered the Comfort Controls without even seeing them on the 05 Wing/Roadsmith I finally bought. Do they make a difference? Yes! Of course they don't compare to the foot position on a Harley or other cruisers, but the difference is definitely noticeable as compared to the stock Wing sitting position. The only draw back is that they are expensive. And I have to add that I've also invested in a custom seat (Hartco Pro Tour), risers and foot pegs as well to get the trike as comfortable as possible. I hope this info helps.

The first time I rode a wing I took off in first gear from a stop then couldn't find the footpegs until I looked down. I was used to more forward controls. It only took me a short while to get used to the pegs being about straight down instead of forward like a cruiser, or back like a sport bike. There is a reason for this. The wing is a touring bike and if you're feet are forward then you are putting more weight on your tailbone making long rides very uncomfortable.

Had my "bike shop" remove the original brake pedal in it's entirety and fabricate a new one that comes out in front of my foot rest. Works great. I had your problem with getting my foot off the foot rest and up to the brake. This has made the world for me.

The OEM pegs do suck , No doubt about it.
Im glad the PO of my MT got the aqua floor boards.
I removed the OEM pegs.
Got a larger brake peddle pad and just use the floor boards.
My Valk was equally as bad.
A tad better once I got some Kury full length floor boards and lowered them 1.75 inches.
If I had ridden an 1800 1st with OEM pegs.
I doubt I would have bought this particular trike.
I have to say even with just using the floor boards.
The shifter peg is still all wrong and your foot does feel cramped occasionally hitting or stepping on the edge of the Aqua Boards.
You do eventually get sort of used to it.
Ive never been totally happy though.
Ive said here from day one.
Im surprised at the lack of adjustments available for Hondas flagship ride.
Its my only real still disappointment with the vehicle after 7 months.

I have very short legs and have lived my whole life with jeans that are too short, chairs that are too high, motorcycles that even with extensive modification I have to tiptoe, etc. Not to sound like Goldilocks but my Wing with Motortrike is just right! My advice is to DEAL WITH IT! We short people have to! :Coffee:

Sorry to rant. I know it's a *icth to spend so much on something then have to modify it.

Since the seat moved you further back, doesn't it hurt your upper back to reach forward to the handlebars?

Thanks for all of the input. We'll be leaving for Sturgis next Thursday and will stop by the Roadsmith trailer when we are there. I test rode a HD conversion Trike there and have spent some time with them. Nice folks. But for the person that said I should just live with the poor location for me of the BREAK pedal,, Really. Thanks and Ride Safe!

I just ordered the Kuryakyn Driver Floorboard Kit 4038.

Anyone installed this kit on a trike?
Just finished the install tonight. They went on with the CSC full size floor boards without any problems. I'll be doing a quick test ride tomorrow. I already know I have to move the brake pedal down. I'll see how the shiftier and everything works tomorrow.

Instead of moving the brake pedal down you may want to try a heel boss. They raised the brake pedal a notch with my trike so I had to get one of these and it works good.

I don't know what your hesitation is with regard to the Harley, unless you really want a Wing and are just looking for ideas to fit it to you. If you are still looking for a bike with the Harley type seating position but not a Harley,Checkout the Royal Star Venture. Powerful v4 engine very smooth, very comfortable long distance rider, cruise control,radio/cb/intercom/ipod interface/mp3 plug. It is also shaft drive like the Wing and a very beautiful motorcycle.Very reliable.

All very true! I had an 09 Venture and it was great on the road and very comfortable. Wife says it was the most comfortable she's EVER been on a motorcycle. I found mine to be "heavy" and somewhat awkward at low speed and wound up trading for a Wing. Later i triked the wing. Frankly, if I had it to be over I'm not at all certain I wouldn't have been a whole lot better off putting a trike on the Venture and calling it good! I've developed a problem with a hip, and am having a VERY hard time getting comfy on the wing as there's no way to move around my feet/ stretch my legs. Kinda disappointing.....
