We finally got back my wifes 2007 HD Sportster 1200 with the new FRANKENSTEIN TRIKES upgrade.
It was held up quite a while by the painter who couldn't match the pearl yellow and finally had to buy a qt. from Harley for $300!

It looks great! It was finally nice enough to get it out of the garage for a few quick photos after installing a few upgrades, her new small HD detachable luggage rack for her solo seat ( It has a NIGHTSTER seat on it that fits perfect).
She has also been wanting some larger 'footboards' to move her feet around a bit more. HD just came out with a 4" footboard for Sportsters but we opted for the Kuryakyn 'Dually Iso Pegs' that come in an assy. with the adjustable Heel Stirrups for a reduced cost. #8062.

She's keeping the load V&H short shots that we got with the kit, because, according to her, there is no such thing as too loud! :)

She can't wait to get out on the bike when it gets a little nicer.
She only rode the two-wheel Sportster a couple times in the last 2 1/2 years due to a back injury and two subsequent surgeries. This was the only solution we saw to her still owning HER OWN bike. She just didn't want to ride on the back of my Tri-Glide. and, she doesn't like the looks of the CanAms.

That is beautiful! You'd better be careful, or your wife will draw more attention than you out on the road! :D

I'm sure you are right! That is a lot more of a rare sight than a red TriGlide!
I also still have my Competition Yellow Victory Jackpot so we'll make a "cute couple" all in yellow!
She can't wait to get to a couple nearby HD dealers and a few 'bike nights' that won't get started up here for a few more months yet.

Re: Wifes 2007 Sportster 1200 with Frankenstein Trike upgrade

I put an HD 'Heavy Breather' on the Sportster trike yesterday. A BIG hunk of chrome! I decided to do it since I need to get a re-map with the V&H short shots anyhow.
I didn't like how it left a lot of the throttle body visible so I looked through some of HD's catalog stick-on bling for something to mount on the throttle body taped hole where I removed a bracket. While I was looking through the catalog I remembered I had an old belt buckle I didn't use. A bit of McGiver-ing and I had a nice cover. It will do until I stumble on another piece of bling that fills the hole even better.

Making ones own bling is always better. Nice job.

I wonder if my wife could ride a trike like that. She is 4'10". Not comfortable for her to be on 2 wheels and much happier with her sitting behind me but maybe??

My wife is 5' 1", and could not stradle MOST bikes pipes, etc. EVEN IF she could put both feet flat ( A MUST IMO). Her Sportster LOW was perfect after we lowered even another 1" and put the solo NIGHTSTER seat on. but, as I said she hurt her back and had two surgeries and we both didn't trust her getting on/off her bike and especially horsing it around in parking lots. The trike was the savior to her owning a motorcycle. They are harder ( for both of us) to throw your leg over without dinging up fender paint but with the trike she can use foot pegs or passenger foot pegs to help stradle it. it won't fall over! :)

Re: Wifes 2007 Sportster 1200 with Frankenstein Trike upgrade

Trying to get the wife to give my trike a shot, she's 4' 9-3/4", and very specific about the 3/4". Like when someone would ask me how tall she is and I reply 4' 9", she'll correct me and say, Uh-Uh, I'm 4-9 and 3/4!!!
Anyway, I bought a new small 2 wheel cycle for her back in 2006 but after 2+ years of ownership she only put 250 miles on it, so I got rid of it. We both resigned that she would always be a pillion until I triked my 2 wheeler. Now she is at least open to the thought of piloting it, which would put me in the pillion position. I wouldn't mind though, I'll just put the armrests down and take a nap!!! Wake me when we get there honey..........

I guess I should have posted her BEFORE picture?

BTW, not sure if I mentioned but we got the FACTORY PAINTED battery/oil tank covers through HD dealer for a bit less than the ubiquitous chrome ones. I'm not sure if they still offer this as i don't see the full page ad in the parts/acc book anymore. If interested, I'd ask.

She could, and I'll bet she'd love it! I am only 5' tall and I ride with no problems :)

What a beautiful 72 degree day yesterday in NE Ohio pepper

We finally got out to the exact same spot that I took the pics of my 1972 Honda 750 chopper that my wife and I built 39 years ago!

Re: Wifes 2007 Sportster 1200 with Frankenstein Trike upgrade

Yesterday the wife won 1st place , 'Trike' division at the THUNDER ROADS OHIO MAGAZINE show at the Mogadore, Ohio festival. As a real bonus to her ( us) Lil' John Rinaldi from the long-time Cleveland ch.8 "Big Chuck and Lil' John" show was there for the pizza eating contest and TRO wanted to get him on a bike that (almost) fit for some shots, so he got on my wifes Sportster trike. He said with a few mods it would be rideable for him. If you are from Ohio , and over 50,you probably remember the friday night horror movie shows with Hoolihan & Big Chuck, Then Lil' John and Big Chuck and of course GHOULARDI! They have been around in one form or another since 1962.
