Am I expecting too much when listening to the radio and the wife says something over the intercom and I have to turn down the radio to hear her? I was under the impression the the intercom would override all other inputs, thus making the intercom the dominate function.
If this is the way it is suppossed to work, kindly tell me what your settings are so I might duplicate them. TIA..Mike

On my 09 TG the radio volume and the intercom volume (vox) are seperate. Try turning up the vox setting on intercom. Its a balance where the wind wont cancel out radio volume and the voice will and can be heard. Also check to see if you have the most current software update for the H-K radio. This also may be helpful. Refer to owners manual for more details. Ride safe.

I totally agree with Bigbill. Each communication setting has it's own volume control (i.e., when in intercom set the volume to a comfortable and the stereo when in stereo mode and also CB when in that mode). The speaker toggle switch also has different settings, forward all modes are through the headsets,

center position stereo plays through the speakers and comm/intercom are through the headset and switch to the rear all are through the speakers.

Play around with the volume settings and you'll soon understand.

That strange. On my '10 TG the intercom (rarely used) and CB (frequently used) completely cut off radio when they send or receive.

I agree with the above, my setup works as advertised also. The radio is playing the wife talks and the radio fades to the background, same thing with the CB. The main thing you have to remember is this, in order to set each volume level, ie radio, intercom and CB you must be on that function to change the volume.

So, if you want to change the intercom volume you must be in that mode on the unit. If you want to change the radio volume you must be in that mode on the unit and so on. Took me a while to figure it out and sometimes while riding and I want to change volumes, I still screw it up because the unit is in the wrong mode!

Don't forget your passenger has the same ability and you must have the unit in one of those 3 modes in order for them to change their volume too!

Someone I ride with just recently asked me if there was a way to turn the radio off and just listen to the CB. The answer is no, but you can turn the radio all the way down, that will mute it and then only the CB will be heard.

Like Postal Trucker said just play around with it till you get the hang of it. It's not rocket science but there is a slight learning curve when trying to adjust things radio, intercom, CB related.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Ride Safe and Enjoy!

We use the intercom all the time. The biggest problem is sometimes my wife gets the mike too far from her mouth and she does not trip the VOX. When this happens the radio stays on. You need to get the VOX set to where when you talk into the mike it will silence the radio and you each can hear each other. You can use the PTT for the intercom also, however if you have the CB turned on then both systems will come on. Near the bottom left of the LCD display on the radio there are indications when CB and Intercom are in transmit mode. If you get the VOX set too sensitive then just reving the engine or the wind or anything will trip the VOX and the radio will never come on. By pressing the INTERCOM button, the middle one and leaving it there you can adjust all the setting for the intercom. Then press the INTERCOM button and it will go back to radio. It works great once you get it adjusted.

We use the radio, CB and Intercom all the time.
