i have custom built a trike and put a daihatsu back axel, i have but the axel the wrong way round for it to go forward but the gearing is wrong, i understand that most use robin reliant back axel what is the best solution, or is there another axel i could use.. any help or anyone selling an axel will be much appreciated. thanks chris
 
Welcome Chris, glad you joined us. Hopefully someone will chime in and answer that question. If not, your question might be best asked on the Homebuilt Trikes Forum here, or do a search of that forum with the term :rear end" or rear axle".
 
On my 2000 Yamaha V Star 1100 I used a Ford 7.5 10 bolts with 2.73 gear ratio. I had to flip it as the drive shaft on a V star turn the oposite way. By flipping it down, the pinion goes higher which causes a lubrication problem for the front pinion bearing so I used a gear oil pump to bring up the oil on top of the pinion. it is connected to my brake lighs and pumps every time I use my brakes. on highway I activate my brakes once in a while to lubricate my pinion .
