I am looking at replacing the windshield on my Trike due to lots of wind noise and buffeting and that we are prepping for an 8000+ mile road trip. My old Trike ( prior to the wreck) had a XT Tulsa Tinted and it was great. Not that it was physically longer but it set taller. **most XT are still 33"** but that it set more upright and didnt lean back like the stock and many other windscreens do. The one on the trike now is a Slipstream ( came with it) and it leans WAY back into the drivers compartment...... Anyway i am looking at the Tulsa * tinted XT with vent= $300 and the F4 * +4 Tinted w vent=$425.... The down side for the Tulsa is that the Tulsa folks are telling me that the material for their screens WONT be shipped to them for at least 3 weeks ( i am figuring 4-5++ weeks to get one from them) & the down side for the F4 is the cost diffence....
I am looking for some comparisons and what others like or dont like about the screens they have, I look THRU my screen so i like it tall.
1. My screen is 33" and if i were to measure directly down from where it ends it would be directly abve where the radio and gas tank meet. and it would be 28 " above that junction.

No one seems to physically have on hand the Tulsa XT tinted w vent even though the ads indicate that its a Tulsa they are really Slipstream or another brand.

Just completed 2000+ last week with the F4+4. Copilot felt that it was better than any we have had to date. Still some buffeting, but markedly better than the V-Stream we had last year. Drove through some very heavy rain and as long as our speed was over 55 it blew right off. We did pick up some rock chips in the screen, so regardless of their claim to have a supper hard coating, it will chip. Where I have it set the top of the screen is directly above the rear of the ignition switch trim and measures 23", if that is of any help.
Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip.

the 23" that you mentioned is that the height from the rear if the ignition switch to the windshield ?
what is the measurement of the screen from the front cowling to the end of the windshield? Seems that the +4 should be longer than that

=4

I don't have it set in the tallest position Chuck. The 23" is from the rear of the ignition switch. I could probably gain about 2" by raising it a notch. I'm currently two notches down from the highest setting. The instructions are to install it one notch down from the top. I change it depending on what speed I'm running and weather conditions.

This works for My BRIDE & me, It is cheaper than a new windscreen:

F4 + 4 is non adjustable. The + 2 is. I have a + 4. It is 6 years old. It has 2 very minor scratches, I would have to point them out to you . The screen is still as clear as it was when new. At times I do not know it is there. If it ever stops raining I will go measure it . I am sure it is more than 23 inches. I dumped a 2 year old Tulsa Tall for this. I kept banging my head on it every time I got off and on. My wife can smoke in the back at 50 MPH. I should have kept the Tulsa it would have cut down on her smoking :xzqxz:
Still raining but I got wet and checked
28 wide 28 tall and 26 straight up from ignition switch. Only leans back to aprox the Handle bar switches when viewed from the side.
Check out this video. This F4 is 3 years old at the time this was taken. You can fast forward to last min of the video if all you want to see is the windshield. You will see some early Stallions and Spyders on here also.

Although my shield is apparently longer (length of windshield) than yours is it sets at an angle much like the stocks shield and as such when i measure directly up from rear of igniotion cover my shield is just 17+" where as yours is 23". This makes a real diff when it comes to deflecting wind up and away from driver.

John the F4+4 can be adjusted. I have one and do change the position occasionally. I know they say it's not and they are correct to a degree. It will not go into the bottom two settings due to it's width.

Nothing I can add to this, the bumping of the helmet got old pretty quick, so off with the Tulsa on with F4+4 and no looking back. A plus is you can wash it with just about anything. Charley

Same thing with me. My trike had the Tulsa when I bought her. I hit my head on that Tulsa every time. The very first thing I changed was the windshield with the F4+4.

If the ride in your post is of your bike it looks as if you have the passanger rear windscreen that i have heard about. They do look somewhat odd but if there is less buffeting on the passenger then they are a major plus and something i would need to look into.

Being able to clean w anything is a real factor in not havin to carry somethng special.

Thanks

Thanks for the info.. it is quite apparent that most aftermarket shields lean back much more than do the F4's. No idea why as they all mount the same andi doubt that anyone does any special bending etc to make them more vertical (upright). A shield ( any shield) that was 26" above the rear of the ignition switch would be ideal. Most all are wide enough but the vertical lift or lack of is what causes the turblulants in the cockpit... I do not like my face exposed to stuff coming off the highway...... Thanks
