Windshield - short

I have been riding a Suzuki C90 Lehman trike for the past 10 years and 52,000 miles without a windshield. I have been using a 3/4 helmet with a face shield.

I just bought a 2011 Tri Glide (11,000 miles) with the stock windshield. I have been riding with my helmet without the face shield with either sun glasses or clear safety glasses. I don't think the windshield has made much difference. I like the wind in my face and don't like looking through bugs. I could reach bugs on my face shield to wipe off riding (sometimes with a little spit). Can't do that with a windshield. I am going to remove the windshield tomorrow and try riding without it. A short windshield will probably be just for looks.

I have seen a couple of threads about how to determine how talk a windshield should be. My questions for recommendations for how short a short windshield should be and tint if any. I have seen new short windshields for $16 on eBay. Probably all made in China but at 6 inches, it should not matter when that short. Taller ones may need to be better quality.

Recommendations on height and tint will be appreciated.

Since you're comfortable with wind on the face and bug strikes on your face shield isn't a problem. You might want to consider giving a stock Street Glide windshield a try. About 4" in height, seeing over the dark tint at night wouldn't be an issue.

Stock take offs should be fairly inexpensive and pretty easy to come by, as the stock shields were the first thing many new SG buyers removed and replaced.

Thanks, I'll look for one.

Some of the ones that I have been looking at. Waiting for my Mustang seat to arrive and looking for advise here to decide short as possible (6") or going by the measuring thing.

Thanks, guys. Took a ride yesterday without windshield as planned. I still like it better that way. I ordered a 6" windshield on eBay. May use the stock 12" one in winter or a face shield.

We have a short one also 6 maybe 7" LRS we really like it takes the buffeting away from the passenger my bride and she doesn't want it ever changed. Travel safe Fred
