Just came back from a week in Daytona, weather was fantastic, almost too hot, did a lot of riding and eating, but while I was down there picked up a decatted heade pipe from wild pig pipes in holly hill for 100 dollars, let you all know how it turns out when I get it put on, need to order a tuner from Kevin. I figured for a hundred bucks I had nothing to lose, hopefully will make a big difference.

Meant to ask this when I originally posted, but if anyone has a stock decatted head pipe what are your experiences with it, could see paying 5 or 6 hundred dollars for a aftermarket header, hope this works out

I think a decatted head pipe is as good as most aftermarket head pipes that claim to make lots of horse power , My brother and I do harley swap meets and get a lot of parts , I tried a vance and hince x pipe I think my stock decatted had more torque , tried a D&D , now I have a fuel moto tripple x BLAH BLAH pipe, Im putting the stock decatted back on. No dyno sheet to back that up just my butt in the seat, for a $100 you cant go wrong .

Shouldn't need a tuner if all you are installing is a de-catted header pipe.

Going to change to a high flow air cleaner and ebs from dk when I put the decatted head pipe on, also have some new s and s slash down mufflers I’m going to put on as well, and also my reverse went out in Daytona, and need to get that sorted out as well

I installed a de-catted head pipe from Wild Pig and it was the best $100 I've spent so far. I didn't get the boost that I thought I'd get but I'm also still running a stock air cleaner. When I get more miles on the trike I'll say to hell with the warranty and get the air cleaner, tuner and some other stuff.

I just bought a Full Sac Sportpipe, they cut the converter section out and add two 6 inch longer primary tubes in its place claiming more low end and mid range.$499 and when you send your stock pipe back you get a $100 back.Taking the trike in on Monday for cam change lifters along with a TTS tuner and dyno tuning so we will see.

Heat

The original 09 touring head pipe didn't have a catalytic converter in it from the factory. IME I built my 09 Streetglide into a 110' with "stock head pipe" and Rinehart slip on with ported heads @ 10.75 compression, Crane 292-2 cams and an HPI 55/58 TB and it made 118hp/130 tq.

Once I built the 124" I had to go with a "stepped head pipe" (1.75"-2"-2.125" to 2.5"at the collector) so it could breath. 152hp/154tq now

I have de-catted many head pipes for buddies and myself and the biggest difference we have seen is a lot less heat on the pipe side. They definitely breath better too. IMHO you can't go wrong with de-catted head pipe until you go "Big Bore".

My current 2011 TriGlide has MegaFlo ported heads, CR 575G cams and "de-catted head pipe" with modified V&H trike slip on mufflers and dyno tuned. I didn't want a stepped head pipe because I would have lost torque with the pipe stepping up in size. Ride Safe

That's good to hear on the AC with EBS. We appreciate your business.

Regarding headers, I've run a bunch. Factory, Factory with cat removed, Samson, FuelMoto, Power Duals, FulSac, and more.

There is very little difference in performance between all the 2-1-2 headers. There is a difference, clearly shown on the dyno, but you have to have a pretty good butt dyno to be able to tell the difference while riding. The difference is much more easily felt while riding with different slip-ons.

Ceramic coating is another thing that you can measure, but feel very little difference on. If you feel the heat is too much from the exhaust, what works much better is putting exhaust wrap around the headers and below the heat shields. See some HERE.

What works even better, is less expensive and easier to install, at getting the feet and legs away from exhaust heat are Floorboard Extensions which you can see HERE.

Regarding a tuner on your M8...Dwayne and I just recorded a video on this subject late last week. It should be edited and published on Youtube by the end of this week. In the meantime there is a good written report on this subject at this LINK.

Thanks Kevin, all ready have the floorboard extensions, was more curious about the ceramic coating than anything, probably wouldn’t have spent the money anyway. What I do need to know about is which ebs to get with the 606 air cleaner, do they all work the same?, is it mostly cosmetic? I’ll go by your expertise as to which one to get, so if you see this please chime in.
