Hey guys,

Still pondering what to do with my front suspension and looks like I now will be changing out my springs since Wingstuff and Progressiven advise against monotubes in trikes...

Currently I have the light Traxxion springs in my bike. They were installed when I was still on 2 wheels. Been talking to Traxxion and they recommend the heavy spring but then I told them I frequently ride alone although from time to time I do have a corider.

I weigh around 208 or so give or take a few pounds on any given day. When the wife rides with me she is around 150 or so. Other co-riders about the same or maybe a bit lighter.

Knowing I favor a more plush ride, what do you think would be better with the trike. The heavier spring or the average spring set...

Papa Zook, please your opinion as well, your the expert here...

As always, all comments are appreciated...

I suggest you try an oil change in the forks first. A little lighter oil for softer or a little heaver for a firmer ride. Just my opinion.

I'd go with the heavier spring.A lot of weight push down on the trike
Thats not true, there is less weight on a trike front end, take a 2-wheeler at 900 pounds you get 450 per axle, a trike at 1150 pounds you get around 385 pounds per axle, I have a set of race car scales and have weighed a few trikes. When and if I get mine back together I will weigh it & post the weights.

David357 has monotubes on his and seems happy.

I may try to do that, however both Wingstuff and Progressive advise against. The issue would be if I install the momotubes and have a problem, they probably won't honor the warranty...

Road Dog, I look forward to seeing those weight figures... What you say makes sense... I do however disagree with your thought of a 2 wheeled machine having the same weight on each axle. I could see where weight distribution would not be equally split between the two...

Right now, I'm leaning toward the medium duty spring as my trike performs acceptably under MOST conditions. I think a slightly heavier spring might just do the trick....

I have a two wheel Indian Challenger I just picked up I will weigh that to.

I recommend you give Will a call at California Side Car. There are a number of considerations here, like not only your weight, but the weight of your passenger. Then there is a consideration if you plan to tow a trailer behind your trike. If I were you I would give Will a call, give him your concerns and ask his opinion. When I had my conversion done, I gave my installer all of the information stated above and he called Traxxion to determine the proper spring
