Which headlight? LED or VisionX?

I picked up a set of LED driving light bulbs from DKCustom, and with a return on some other stuff, I was going to get a new headlight bulb. When checking out the LED headlight bulb (DK-H4-HL-LED), it would match the color temp, but going by the example pics, it doesnt look as long-reaching as the incandescent VisionX (DK-H4-HL-VX).

Are there any owners on here that have gone one way or another, and if so, would be willing to give some input? I thought bouncing the idea around all weekend (pics don't show the best comparo, etc), I'd have a favorite, but I'm no closer.

I'd like to keep the selection limited to those 2 choices right now...DK has done right by me for damn near everything I've put on the trike so far, so I'd like to keep loyal to them. Many thanks for any input provided!

(ETA- I have done a search, but not too much has popped up. I'll continue trying with different search terms, but thought I'd ask as well)

I have the stock LED on my 15 TG. They are the brightest motorcycle lights I've ever seen. Do I recommend LEDs? Hell yes!! It really helps to see the deer at night. With the fog lights running while I have my brights on, it's about as close to car headlight brightness as you can get.

Email Kevin at DK Customs...he'll be straight up with you, even if he has to send you somewhere else for something.

The stock one from the 15's & 16's are way above ones available aftermarket (at this price point anyway). Ifar I could get one of them, I'd do it in a heartbeat :)

Been exchanging emails with Dwayne from DK, he's been exceptionally helpful (they've all been throughout the history of my dealing with them for that matter...main reason I wish to stay loyal with them for this)...I wasn't asking because I distrust what he's said (far from it....hopefully it didn't seem otherwise), Just thought I'd get another couple opinions before I make the move

The VisionX are about the best bang for the buck in non-LED DOT approved lights.

Maybe the pictures don't show it, but the Drop-in LED we have is much nicer to ride with. It definitely puts out more light, straight ahead, than the VisionX

Since starting to use LED's a few years ago, I will not be going back to a non-LED light.

The above pics is in a Sporty bucket, this next pic is a 7" bucket like what you have on your TG

The VisionX is a great bulb, but it does not light up the road like the LED.

Is there a difference between low & High beam? That's the main thing that was tripping me up in the pics (when I was on the DK site as well as above)...I know it might just be part of the "doesnt show well in compressed pics", but wanted to be sure

For what it is worth:
I put a LED headlight on my F/W two weeks ago. I do not do much night riding any more but coming home one evening I was not impressed with stock light.

I know nothing about vision x and I was not in a hurry to spend the money on an LED. My grandson had experience while in the Navy, using LED in helicopters and said they were great and I would like it.

He put the light on when it arrived and he was right, more distance for light and to me, I get sign reflections sooner than normal things appear a little clearer.

I do know that hanging around this forum could get expensive. Folks are always coming up with something else to put on my trike.

If you can get to a computer and look at the photo's posted above, then right click on them to open in a new tab, they will be bigger, then you can left click on them, and they will be even bigger. You will clearly be able to see the difference between low and high beam.

Damn computer screen is small, but that answers my question perfectly. Looks like I'm going full LED ThumbUpThumbUp

The LED arrived yesterday, put it in today, and (im)patiently waited for nightfall, and HOT DAMN! I am glad I listened! I probably have to adjust it a touch, but it lights up the area like never before. Thanks to those who responded, and MANY thanks to Kevin and Dwayne at DK...you both were a huge help with the RMA and helping me figure out which bulb to get ThumbUpThumbUpThumbUp

And, if anyone is on the fence about going to LED, DO IT...low draw, great illumination, great life...win/win/win

Great to hear you installed it.

Now you know why I will never go back to a non-LED light! Night & Day difference.

I purchased a Premium White LED Drop-in Headlight Bulb H4 (DK-H4-HL-LED) and Passing/Driving LED Bulbs (DK-05-PL-LED)
from DK Custom to make me more visible. It does a great job at a very reasonable price, I don't ride at night so I can't answer the question about seeing further down the road.
Ride Safe.

DEFINITELY! I am honestly shocked at the amount of light output (ESPECIALLY at its price point)! My last experience with anything other than standard halogens was years back (many years...as in 1990-ish) when I got one of those 'ultra-white" bulbs...it sucked. I think it didn't last more than one night. I think that experience was tainting my expectations this time. I couldn't be any happier with the bulb, AND all of DK's help....Dwayne emailed back and forth over a dozen times (literally) helping with a return (error on my side) and figuring out which light I wanted. That is 5 star customer service. :clapping:
