Where to mount inspection and county stickers?

I did a search of the triglide forum and couldn't find anything.

Here in VA we have to have County/City and Inspection stickers on our vehicles.

When I first got my Victory Vision back in 2009, the safety sticker was mounted on the fork and I put the county sticker on the windshield. Back then, I didn't think too much of it, but now, I wish I had mounted them elsewhere.

On my new triglide, I was to be a bit more discreet.

Where do y'all put those stickers?

Thanks, Vince.

I couldn't decide either . I put it in my tour pack with my other papers for now. that was about 1& 1/2 years ago. did the same when it was a bike. not a real tough law here as long as you have the papers with you when ask for them.

I agree. Unless your law says it must be displayed at all times I would just toss it in the tour-pac. ThumbUp

Another location would be behind the lower pad of the passenger back rest (if you don't want it showing).

The place I've seen most often is in the back of the front fork = less noticeable.

I live in an unincorporated area and don't have a local sticker. :pepper:

get a small metal plate that bolts to the bike someplace and attach the inspection sticker to that versus the bike itself..Just a thought..

Here in Oregon we don't have to have inspection stickers so far but I remember when I was in the Military we had to have a sticker on our vehicles, I rode a 62 Panhead and thats what I did was take a small metal plate and put the Military sticker on that and that worked.

Missouri used to have the inspection sticker stuck on the left fork. Appaerntly they loosened up on the rules and the inspector said it could go anywhere on the bike/trike. He suggested on the inside of the saddlebag lid, but I rather not open up my luggage for view. I don't carry anything illegal, but it is nobody's business what is in there no matter if I am carrying tools or underwear. I had him put the sticker on the baffle behind the triple tree. They are an option nowdays, but an good addition - came stock in 1990 when my Harley was built. The sticker is unobtrusive, but readily viewable.

In PA, the 'default' location is on the left fork tube. BUT, in Pennsylvania, annual motorcycle safety inspection stickers are up to the individual inspector, within several parameters = if it's on the left side, visible, and firmly attached, it'll likely pass :D.

Here's my Lehman Raider inspection (chrome) plate, attached to a frame bolt.

Also, here're some other suggested plates & locations you might consider:

In Jersey when we had inspection's the sticker went on the license plate, It was the size of a postage stamp.. We don't need any stinken inspections any more because we Jersey'ens properly maintain our Bikes without the help of the Govo'mint........;);)

on my TG there is a plate behind my left passenger footrest, almost behind the exhaust pipe. Thats where the dealership put the inspection sticker, and when I had it inspected the next year, thats where the guy put it again.

I assumed that was just the normal place for it? (and I live in VA, but in fairfax county, so no county sticker for me, just the inspection)

Post 3 has a good picture of it in this thread:

Couldn't find the pics of the stickers from another thread here on TT, but finally hunted them up.
Here the Missouri sticker is on the baffle on the FLHS, and on the Goldwing I put in on the inside of the front fairing cowl. Again, unobtrusive, but readily viewable.

Thanks for all the feedback! Took the TG to Patriot HD for the inspection and they were selling those mounting plates, so mine is mounted just in front of the left exhaust pipe. Worked out well.Inspection Tag.jpeg

Texas currently has an inspection sticker, and I have mine on a small plate that bolts on under the license plate. Bought the little plate from the local HD dealer.

Next year the state is going to safety sticker that goes on the license, so I can get rid of the extra plate.

I took the original flimsy plate the triglide came with for license plate and used the bottom part as Texas inspection sticker. Loosen top trunk and slide under back end between trunk and frame it sits on. Bend as needed for sticker. It is visible from back but hidden under trunk. I replaced license plate with custom chrome unit.

I really really hate to say it, but that looks awful. You even see it twice by way of the reflection in the chrome. There must be a better place. I think the question is, is it required to be visible? And from what perspective/angle/distance? I suppose every state has a different requirement.
In my opinion the back of the front shock would be a better, less noticeable place. Plus it's awfully big compared to some other stickers.
Maybe if the sticker was black w/white letters - it wouldn't be as noticeable as - - - ORANGE. :D :D

Yep, I hear ya! I just let the Harley shop put it where they're accustomed to putting it. Seemed sensible to me.

Anyway, checked the legal stuff. Has to be visible

Here's the extract, for your reading pleasure:

If the vehicle is a motorcycle, the approval sticker may be placed on a plate securely fastened to the motorcycle for the purpose of displaying the sticker or in any other location designated by the Superintendent. This sticker shall be displayed on the windshield of such vehicle or at such other designated place upon the vehicle at all times when it is operated or parked on the highways in the Commonwealth and until such time as a new inspection period shall be designated and a new inspection sticker issued. Common carriers, operating under certificate from the State Corporation Commission or the Department of Motor Vehicles, who desire to do so may use with the approval of the Superintendent private inspection stations for the inspection and correction of their equipment.

Comment: This statute allows for the placing of inspections stickers on a plate securely fastened to the motorcycle. While not included in the statute, the above designation powers have been used to require that the inspection plate be mounted on the left side of the motorcycle.

Well, according to that statement - it doesn't have to be "Visible for any set distance" just displayed. So behind the front forks works perfectly.
Another location (depending on size of sticker) would be on the flat part of the frame right behind the rear cylinder.

I guess the size is the limiting factor for a location. ThumbUp

PA HD Dealer has mine on the frame down tube left side .... behind lower and not that easy to see ... but legal according to them. My KAWI has it visible on left lower front fork. Like said .... not always in the same location here in PA.
