They can get hot, I've had mine to 800 degrees. I know guys who have had theirs up to 1,000 degrees. The warranty is 1st rate and they do stand behind their product. I found a crack in my fire ring, the dealer I bought it from wasn't much help. I contacted Big Green Egg about the problem and sent pictures. Bruce is shipping me out a new fire ring.

Everytime my neighbors see smoke, they come over. At least they bring Beer ThumbUp
 
Well after 18 years without a grill, in the last 3 days I've bought two, a gasser and a LBGE! Now all I need is a deck to start the Chillin' & Grillin'!
Already used the gasser, not having the Egg delivered until the grill area is completed.
Snowbird's invited before or after "Tom's Party"!
