What did you do to Your Tri-Glide Today?

Oil Change

Been rainy all week in Connecticut so i too today and changed all the oil in the engine, trany & primary weather improving for next week so she is all ready to ride.

Tell me about the oil filter relocation, please.

Sorry I haven't got back to you about the install. My grandson had heart surgery and I have a bit busy and didn't get the exhaust back on yet.

The install is not hard, but takes a little effort to put it together. The most difficult for me was hoses on the filter adapter. Just a little close for old hands. After installing the bottom hose, I made a trip into the kitchen and borrowed the dishwashing liquid. Just a drop around the connector threads made it easy. Don't over do it, don't want bubbles in the oil. I was also doing the floorboard extensions so I got those things out of the way and it made life easier. I hope to get the exhaust on this week and run this thing up.

The grandson is doing great and should be home in about 2 weeks. That will take us out of the caretaker mode for the other grandchildren. Man it was not this hard when our kids were small. Jim

I was going to do the filter relocation and cooler also on my 2014 and my dealer said a no no for warranty ! So be cautious if you are concerned about Harley warranty . Ebert

I do know that could be an issue at some dealers. The guys here in Las Cruces have never been a issue and are excited to see the final product. They were super impressed with the tank and comfort lift.

I have bought 4 different bikes from the dealer and sent them 11 buyers. I do believe that it helps to have a good relationship with the dealer. Jim

Don't ask -Don't tell.... Ive said this many times before... Just by asking the dealer if this will void the warranty ; Will void the warranty.....:D

Finished my once a year thorough wash, wax and shine on the Tri-Glide. Took it outside to take some pics, and it was cloudy....took a few anyway, and put it back inside.

It's going to rain tomorrow, so I will be riding the Softail, keeping the TG inside until a sunny day.

It won't be this clean again for another year, and I want to get some good pics.

Installed my 1 1/2" tank lift and rear tank lift kit this weekend. Wish I'd gotten the 2" kit now that I got it finished, but really like the look. Think this is the first time I've been able to clean the rocker boxes on a stock bike.

I like what you did with your rear wheels,Bill, especially the three spoke spinners. Where did you find those?

Looking good, Kevin! What header are you running?

Got all the bugs off! Then put on the HD rear fender chrome trim. Ordered the new DK air deflectors & floorboard extensions. When I put the extensions on I will remove the heel shifter ( just can't get to liking that thing after 2000 miles). Ordered a Kury spacer and will move the toe shifter to the outside and see how I like that.

Took the trike in for the 5K checkup and fluid changes, also ordered the new DK air deflectors, should have the bike back tomorrow, waiting for the email from DK that the deflectors shipped.

Finally a nice day here today, rode about 60 miles. When I got home my DK air deflectors and floor board extensions were here. GREAT SERVICE from DK! So I put them all on. Only issue was the 2 top bolts on the left side floorboard were a bitch to get out. Moco must have used some type of gray/white thread locker and torqued the hell out of them. Had to tap them with a hammer and took all I could do to get them out with a short breaker bar. Install went much easier! My Kury heel shift eliminator also came today, so I am toe shift only now. Test ride tomorrow!

Got a 50 mile test ride in today. Really like the floor board extensions (knees are more comfortable). Windy here today, but do think I have less chin whisker lift with the air deflector/tank lift combo. Well satisfied.

I got tired of the slop in the shift lever rod, So last night i took the rod and lever off by removing the allen bolt [1/4 in +3/8] the bolt was pretty well grooved where it clamps on the trans shaft. So today i got a new one from my local hardware store, :) Aren't too many of them around anymore....:cxtv:
Now the rod is tight as a drum....ThumbUp

Ours was a little sloppy too and I wanted something a little more spiffy.

Mary and I rode into Memphis this evening. It was a nice 100 mile round trip ride, a really good break from too many hours at the computer and turning wrenches for the last week! :)

Went to see the movie "A Story Worth Living". It was pretty good...not as much motorcycle riding as I thought it would be, but still pretty good.

Here's a trailer of it-

Installed the new tour-pak relocation kit for 2014 and newer trikes from DK Customs

I just got done installing the new tour-pak relocation kit from DK Customs on my new 2016 Jade Green and Black TG. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The kit has quality written all over it just like the rest of DK Customs parts. I had a couple friends up to help me and it took about 45 minutes to complete. After we installed the kit at the 1 inch location we sat it back down on the trunk and put one nut on the front bracket mount on each side of the tour-pak. I had the wife come out and sit in the seat to see how she liked it. She liked it but did say another inch back would be even better. So I took the nuts off the front bracket mounts on each side and we relocated the kit to the 2 inch location. We did the install back on the trunk and the wife tried it again and said that's just right. So I finished installing the other nuts and tightening them down. Now it's good to go for us. Only thing I would say is if you go more than 2 inches back you will need to add some type of pad between the seat and the pad on the tour-pak as there is a definite space and your passenger may be sitting without full support on their posterior.

My wife and I went for a ride I needed to get some miles on. I have appt. for the 1K check up next week and the weather hadn't been cooperating. We stopped at Doc's Harley If any of you are coming to Wisconsin and want to see a very unique place this is it. This is a very creative guy and sells Harley's besides. Gave the Tri a good cleaning when we got back. www.docshd.com

Didn't think I would ever get the tri glide back on the road, but I did. Relocated the oil filter, added the oil cooler, changed out the header for a catt less header and installed a 1" floorboard extensions. It was not that difficult to make the mods, I just had way too many things happening that slowed things down. People think that since I am retired that I have nothing to do so they are always wanting me to tag along with them.

I am impressed with how the heat feels off the pipes, much cooler and I am also impressed with the difference in the performance due to the catt less header. Jim

took dust off

Could not ride today planting gardens gotta do what ya gotta do dusted off Shiney cleaned bugs from lowers ready to go though as soon as planting rest of gardens. fearless

Added billet windshield trim H-D 61300275, mounted second kury perch mount drink holder to left side switch cluster, installed the old style whip antenna .......... Way better reception out in the boonies than that poor excuse for a fishing pole that comes from the factory.
