What did you do to Your HONDA GOLDWING TRIKE today?

I carried the wife out for a birthday ride, just a little over sixty miles it was interesting trying to stay on back roads and avoid the rain but we did it, then we took the VW convertible out for another seventy miles and was real glad we had the top to put up, on the last leg of the ride the bottom fell out and it rained so hard for about ten minutes we could hardly see the road then it just stopped. She enjoyed it that's what matters.

Very pleased on how it turned out and it handled beautifully. I rode it almost 600 miles on Friday from Conroe up to Corning Arkansas where I spent the night and then about 540 miles Saturday to get home in Wisconsin. Today I just did another 420 miles to Farmington MO and will tack on another 200 miles to get to Mountain Home AR where I'm spending the week at a Goldwings gathering. By the time I get back home again next Saturday, it will be ready for the recommended first gear oil change in the rear end.

Mike knows his way around Goldwings, does all of his own service, maintanance and addons and though he had never installed a trike conversion or witnessed the process first hand, he wanted his hands on his own build so he'd know all the particulars if it needed service or he had to troubleshoot anything going forward. He did a good bit of the install himself and got an education.

Not today but partly during the trike conversion and over the last several days. As you can tell, I've been busy.
Done while conversion was underway:

1. Belly Pan
2. Updated Navigation SD Card
3. Replace seat bolts with tapered
4. Fork Brace Install
5. MBL Handlebar Risers install
6. ADV Bypass shim
7. Speedbleeder install
8. Service rear suspension reservoir (starts at 0 now)
9. Viper Decal
10. License Plate
11. Foot brake lever swap
12. Installed switch on side stand harness
13. FOBO Trike TPMS
14. Garmin Zumo XT Windshield mount and wiring
15. USB 3 port Power port installed in front left pocket.
16. RAM Mounts for phone and wired up a USB cord for power
17. EC Bluetooth receiver and noise filter
18. Sena Freewire in left front pocket
19. Kuryakyn mini arm swap
20. Seat Beads
21. Duplicate keys
22. Kuryakyn iso drivers pegs

Then over the last several days, the updating has continued:

1. CB Radio
2. Baker Wind Wings
3. Trunk Rack Flags
4. Passenger Arm Rest Rear Lights
5. Gear Indicator behind right speaker grill
6. Voltmeter behind left speaker grill
7. Trunk Rubber Baby Bumpers to stop rattle
8. LED Headlights Low and High beams
9. New Navigation Digital Display installed in gauge cluster to cure dead pixels and gauge cluster reinstalled.
10. Kuryakyn Trunk Handle to fix broken mount for trunk latches
11. Connected Trike reverse lights
12. Reinstall speedohealer
13. Swapped Utopia Backrest to my new to me seat as old seat was ripped.

I'm still not done and have a few more projects planned but many of them can probably wait until winter. I'm very close to having this 2012 outfitted almost like my 2007 was.

Still adding on. Although I had installed the CB, I didn't install the antenna at the same time because I needed longer mounting bolts. I picked those up at the hardware store yesterday and CB antenna is now mounted. I still have to ground it but that's an easy job.

I got an early start today as the heat warnings are still in effect. I was able to install Centramatic Balancers to the front wheel. It would be nice to also have them for the rear wheels but Centramatic has told me that there's not enough clearance and that the calipers are too close to the wheels. Maybe one day they will have a solution.

So I am just about done with things I have to do for now. I still need to change out the gear oil in the rear end as I have made it past the break-in mileage. I have a new bottle of 80w90 GL5 sitting in the garage ready to go. Soon...

Finally got the trunk rack risers mounted for my Kuryakyn trunk rack. The standard mounting for those Kury trunk racks are way to skinny and don't spread the load very well. The risers are an absolute must for this setup. I had seen where there were cracks developing around the left rear rack base in the trunk lid. The risers spread the load much better and this will most likely keep the cracks from spreading
I also installed wider fender washers on inside of lid with the mounting screws to help with this. Between the risers, larger washers inside and installing the Rubber Baby Bumpers to eliminate the trunk rattle, when trunk is closed, it's so much more sturdier and hopefully has fixed the problem.

My Goldwing Account Spreadsheet:

Accessories (so far): $17,652.00

On the positive side, I'm a huge bargain shopper and the vast majority of stuff I found for way less than retail. And a few things were only available used but in excellent shape. So I spent far less than I could have. The advantage was that I had months of being able to do very little of anything but surf the web and accumulate what I was going to need. It paid off...

Yes you are, and you negotiated a killer deal on your 2012 GL1800..way less than the listed price by about $3000. Plus, you do all your own work. Your're the Goldwing GOAT!

I discovered that my trunk remote lock and unlock as well as the spoiler light on top of trunk were not working. The most common issue is broken wiring that goes up the outside of the front right hinge. The harness gets stressed while being bent and straightened every time trunk is opened and closed and will result in broken wires. So I figured that was the best place to look and dug in. What a sticky mess. It had wraps and wraps of electrical tape which gets nice and gooey in the heat. I finally got it all unwrapped forward and behind where it meets the hinge. No broken wires and nothing looked wrong. That meant I had to take the seat off and find the connector at the beginning of that sub harness. Of course, that turned out to be the problem. That grey 12 pin connector wasn't connected! I know that it was previously connected but I must have recently unplugged it while doing various tasks and forgot to plug it back in. I went ahead and plugged it back in and now the remote trunk unlock began to work and spoiler light came to life.

I'm glad it wasn't the harness as I know I could have fixed it but don't really like having "repaired" wiring. I had already been pricing out a new harness to install just in case. It was going to set me back just north of $100. Luckily I won't be needing that now. I had also planned on removing the trunk harness from the hinge attachments sometime in the future and zip tie them together in the middle as a preemptive move so less stress and I wouldn't have to worry about wires breaking later. I figured this was the best opportunity to do it so I took care of it.

It's time for a Honda Goldwing Trike-specific thread. So, what did you do to (or with, since they require very little work) your Honda Goldwing Trike today?
This could include a ride, trip, added accessories, etc.
I bought a new digital tire pressure gauge for the trike. Now I’m hiding it in the bike so it stays there. ( grandsons)

I did the same. I am using a Slime digital gauge and it's been fairly accurate. I've been using it for several years now and have yet to replace the batteries.

And my upgrades continue but really have almost nothing left to do. Big sigh...

I went ahead and installed the H3 LED bulbs in my fog lights to replace the halogen. Now the fog lights match the headlights. I'm pretty impressed and would say the intensity matches the output of the Electrical Connection LED headlights.

The hardest part for me was getting the 2 lower cowl bolts out as they are sitting behind the front of the floorboards. I know I could have just taken the floorboards off but that's a real chore and I didn't want to go through that.

And having the lower cowl off gave me the opportunity to finally adjust the cable for the lower foot warmer doors. The left one didn't fully close. Now it does...
