hey all.
Im flippin my lip over the posi vs open rear concept??

Can anyone who has ever ridin...owned...built or just by talkin to someone post a posi vs open rear end thought???

I dont wanna get killed by buildin a trike with a posi but dont wanna not do one wo a posi and be dissapointed.

Can the springs be lightened up in a posi to make it not grab so tight but still burn both tires? Im not running sticky or wide tires but tall profile rims with low profile tires.

Im gettin to many mixed reactions and just wanna get it right. Tnx, RR

Depending on what kind of rear end you're using, have you considered running an E-locker rear end? These are VERY common in the offroad world, and also in the hot rod world. They aren't for you if you're doing a "bare bones budget build", but offer the best of both worlds. With the push of a button, or flip of a switch, the E-locker engages and turns your vehicle into a full on Posi style set up. Turn the locker off, and back to normal.

no on the racing. Just street crusin n trips. But i want to lite em up on demand. lol RR

Are you buiding a trike with a front mounted car engine or a trike with motorcycle engine? With just about any motorcycle engine and flat wide car tires on the rear, burn outs with both tires are going to be next to impossible. You will break something trying.

I used a 84 Ford Ranger truck rear, non-posi, narrowed and changed gear ratio from 3.65 (stock) to 3.00 for lower RPM & mileage. Can chirp tires now and then but don't want to break driveshaft, u-joints, etc...........they cost money. Smokin' tires is not my thing either. Riding fast...safely on a trike is hard enough and can be done on my 1985 Honda, GL1200 Gold Wing homebuilt. Besides when the wife drives...she drives like ME!!!!!ThumbUp
