Veterans/Retired Military

22years for me, 4 in the Marines, combat photographer in Nam and 18 in the Army as a tanker, retired soon after returning from Desert Storm in 91".

1st Sgt, Deputy Finance Officer, Superintendent,! Etc etc
SEA, Grissom, Nellis, Homestead, Bentwaters, March, Misawa, Lowry.
Now, just completed 20 years Civil Service
Time to retire, get a Goldwing trike and travel.
Lost a leg 10 months ago so still working on getting reestablished
Got a scooter trike now

Joined the Army in Jan 86 (at 17 and a half with parents permission) did Basic at Ft. Knox, AIT at Ft. Rucker (67N Huey Mechanic), 1st duty station Ft. Carson were I meet my wife, went TDY to Ft. Eustis to attend 67T Blackhawk Mechanic school, returned to Ft. Carson to help get rid of the ageing Huey's and get in the new Blackhawks. ETS' d in May 89. Reentered Army in Mar 90 at Ft. Sill were I became a 13P (Fire Direction Center) stationed at Baumholder Germany C/16 Fa, Aug 90-Sept 93, PCS' d to Ft. Stewart A-13 Fa, Oct 93-Oct 95, PCS' d to Korea (Camp Stanley) 6/37 Fa Nov 95- Dec 96, PCS' d back to Baumholder 6/29 Fa Dec 96- Dec 98, PCS' d to Ft. Sill 1/30 Fa (Instructor for 13P's) Dec 98-May 2002, PCS' d back to Germany, Babenhausen this time 6/37 for a month then transfered over to 41BDE Jun 2002-Apr 2004 (deployed to OIF/OEF Feb 2003 to Feb 2004) then transfered back to C Btry 6/37 and PCS' d in May 2005 back to Ft. Sill 1/30 Fa, Dropped Retirement Papers in 2006 and went on Terminal leave in Aug 2006 and the Retired List 1 Dec 2006 as an SFC/E-7. Have not looked back yet.

USAR 1979 - 1982, then U.S. Navy 1982 - 1997. Was able to retire early, when they were trying shrink the military. 15 years, 8 months, 22 days of active duty, 3 years of Army reserve, and they gave me a retirement with a retainer, and all the benefits of a 20 year retirement.
My navy commands were:
Great Lakes Recruit Command/NTC 1982/83
USS SEATTLE AOE-3 1983-88
Great Lakes NTC 1988 - 89
SIMA Charleston, SC 1989 - 92
USS SANTA BARBARA AE-28 1992 - 95
Great Lakes Service School Command 1995 - 97
 
Ex Army. 1967-1975. Was an E-7 when I left to join the private sector. Was a 27 series (land combat guided missile system tech) That was REDEYE, TOW, DRAGON,VULCAN AND SHILLELAGH..
 
USMC (68-73) US Army (73-85) US Army Reserve (85-97) Retired Reserve (97-10) Retired in 2010 with 42 years 12 days.
It was my distinct pleasure to have served with a lot of very outstanding individuals and I do miss them all.

Just got back home from Going to the Wall in DC. I am very proud of the our brave military today.
 
Current Military, Air National Guard, prior USAF, both full-time. Looking forward to retirement and too many questions about that to ask or answer! :) Thanks to our nation for the opportunity to wear boots!
 
Active Duty Air Force Crew Chief on RF-4C, F-4D, F-16, A-10. Became a Civil Servant Equipment Specialist on F-16 and A-10. Than a Program Manager on Global Hawk, Predator and Reaper. Now a PM for commodity contracts for EW gear. 31 Years Total Service. Looking for retirement in 2020 with 38 years under my belt. Then I will be looking for :party::party:
 
I wish to thank each person who worked in any capacity for my freedom. And also to those who supported those in any way. I believe the families are just as much in need of recognition.
