Uncomfortable ride...HELP

I do not think that there is a " One solution" for all ridders. I have had the Diamond seat, Saddlemens road sofa, Corbin and the stock Honda Seat. Most of my rides are longish and more so when we do road trips that average 350-450 M per day. On both the lehman trike and the roadsmith i found that i felt more comfortable with normal pegs than using mini boards w heel toe shifter due to the need move the shifting foot for and aft to shift and that tended to cause hip cramp... Ero highway pegs allowed me to get my legs out forward when not in traffic and that was comfortable as they ( ergo pegs0 can be easily adjusted. ALL of the seats even though all except the Hinda stock seats were custom made seats and yet they were too hard for long trips... best solution for me was a cushion that i got from " Cow hide Cover" on Ebay and then i added about an inch of foam to it and THAT has been the best solution to my hunt for the right seat.... Even tried the Air Hawk cushions & they did not work well for me...

Lot of good information here. I need something to help on those long rides. I think I will test a couple of cheaper alternatives before tackling the seat conversion/change.

Here's just another FWIW regarding the GoldWing seat. I'm 6'1", 215#, 77 years old and have never had any seat other than the stock Honda unit. We've been in 47 states & Canada, 150,000+ miles with many 600+ days so do have a little experience. I have a Kuryakyn driver backrest set in the middle adjustment hole that forces a very upright position...I have some lower back problems but am never bothered on the trike. When the buns get uncomfortable I use the Kury highway boards or I stand up on the pegs (I'm an old dirt bike rider)- usually just 30 seconds or less, this seems to refresh everything quite well. I recognize that everybody is physically different, with different problems - this is just the way I've done it for years. I really think frequent stops are the primary answer to most issues....

On my 2009 XL1200C Lehman Raider, I run my 21" front tire @ 36~38 lbs PSI (so the chrome steel front wheel doesn't get bent in a pothole / curb / whatever)

I'm riding a Lehman Raider (relatively light) trike with a curb weight of 833 lbs. I'm 230 lbs, for a total of 1,060 lbs. My rear tires are 205 / 60 R 15" (R = radial). Mine came with extended control mini-floor boards, which moved my weight distribution directly into my backbone. The Harley Sundowner™ Seat was soft, and wider than stock, but that didn't help on bumps and asphalt patches.

I always ride alone. After changing my (OEM) shock absorbers to soft, I changed my rear tubeless tire pressure to 16 lbs. After riding it around the neighborhood (to make sure I didn't get a flat by under-inflating the side walls) a found it was a little too soft ~ my Sportster front end wandered / wobbled a little on the turnpike.

I changed it to 18 lbs, that seemed about *right*. I have a 1 - 20 PSI pencil gauge I keep on the trike. I've been riding for a few months (again, 1-up riding) and it seems to be the best compromise.

The front tire pressure is 38 lbs, which has little impact on the ride performance.

The best thing I have found are the Mick O Pegs. I was going thru pretty much the same thing you are, these pegs really make a difference, kind of high priced but worth it. I also have a air hawk cushion and a gel cushion I got at walmart for $19.95 and it seems to work as good as the air hawk that cost twice as much. Sometimes I switch from the reg seat to one of the cushions just to change my riding position.

My recommendation is the Mick O Pegs "riding is wonderful.com". Spring loaded to retract when not in use, puts your feet more down than having to put up with the wide faring.

How can anyone say the Goldwing seat is the most uncomfortable seat he has ever ridden. the Wing has the most comfortable seat in the motorcycle world. This poster should have ridden a Honda 350 across 13 states in 7 days and then he could say he was uncomfortable. I've owned dozens of bikes in my life from Honda to Yamaha(that was a mistake) 7 Harley Ultras and 7 Goldwings. The Harley seat is so narrow I had to go with a Mustang within 3 months. The Wing seat is big, cushy, and roomy. I've even know some folks that had the seats cut down,(had the form removed) since they were, (too cushy). This gentleman may want to see where his backrest is set and change that location. I've ridden with hundreds of guys that ride Wings and have never had them complain about the seat. Position of the footpegs, yes, but never the seat.

Another thought that might be considered. When I raked my Trike I noticed that since my bike is lowered it actually "pushes" the rider toward the front of the seat. That fact may add to some discomfort.

I can say it with no reservations at all.
For my local commuting its been fine.
13 miles each way.
I took a 3 hour ride 150 miles give or take and was almost crippled by the time I got off the bike.
Butt hurt lower back hurt. Legs went numb.
Im diabetic and have other issues.
Of all the bikes Ive owned over 40 years of riding. The sitting position and stock seat on my 2010 Goldwing trike.
Has been by far the worst of any OEM seat Ive ever sat on.

I ride a VTX so have lots of leg stretch room---i did put on an Ultimate seat 20,000 miles ago and it made a tremendous difference , altho it is beginning to feel like it might be breaking down . Biggest difference i found was when i started running 16 pounds air pressure in the rear tires---difference is like day and nite----been running 16 pounds for the past two years with no adverse effects

I couldn't stand the stock seat on my 2012 Wing, plain murder on the back side. On the stock seat of my 06 Ultra I can go 80 miles before I want off, the wing was making my back side burn after 25 miles. I can say the stock seat on the Wing was the worst seat I've had on any of my Harley's including my Sportster. I sent it off to Russel and had the full treatment done, now I can ride the snot out of it without much pain.

I think ones build has much to do with how well a seat sits. on my 03 wing all was great , on the 2010 wing butt gets a littler sore but I am up about ten to 15 pounds.

Yep saw it. I have highway pegs and have used both the stock foot pegs and Kury foot boards with the heal toe shifters, I prefer the foot boards. Leg wise I've been in great shape, I'm only a 29" inseam so I don't have very long legs. I almost went with the same seat you did, just couldn't pass up the group buy I stumbled into for the Daylong this past winter. Since doing the seat I've put in close to 500 mile days with no real discomfort, something I know I would have never pulled off with the stock seat.

msocko3, you talk about "Russell" in post 39 and "Daylong" in post 42, could you explain what thy are and what the difference is in them. Or are they the same?

Any 300 lb'rs with seat suggestions? I have a '96 GL1500A w/Motor Trike. I haven't really taken any long trips as yet but want to avoid any discomfort when the time comes.
