nana when in may is trike talk raly. and do we meet at the dragon tail.

Hi John! Hope you can join us :D.
Go to the first post in this thread and you will find all the details including the motels where the group is meeting. There are a couple of people who will be with us in Asheville, but can't go to the Dragon Tail, and a couple who cannot come until the Dragon Tail! We don't mind....we'd just like to have as many join up as possible! This is only our second "rally", so we are still a small group, and it should be lots of fun. Let me know if you can come or if there are any questions you didn't find answers for in the previous posting.

John...one more thing... I am bringing a FEW TrikeTalk t-shirts for sale. If you think you might want one, PM me your size and your preference for the Goldwing logo or the Harley cruiser style logo and I will make sure I bring one with me. If you look at it and want it, you can buy it from me there and save the shipping costs.

Re: TrikeTalk Rally-2 at the Dragon Tail (May15-17th)

Hi guys,

I hope your trip to the Smokies is great. MJ and I are here now. We started on Tuesday past, at the south end of the Blue Ridge Parkway and rode all the way to the north end of the Blue Ridge Prk. We continued on to the north end of the Skyline Dr. We then turned around and rode back. We are in Cherokee tonight. Will do 1 day of riding around here and 2 days in Helen Ga. before heading back to Key Largo Fl. We all ready have more than 2k on each of the trikes and expect 1k more before they see the garage in KL.

Suggest a visit to the BlueRidge Pwy web site for those coming from the north to your gathering. There are 3 detours to be aware all north of Asheville, with the longest starting just North of Asheville for about 30 miles north.

South of Asheville is open and really the best ride of the whole parkway.

The weather has been wet, light to moderate rain, foggy (wet in the fog) and somewhat cool, really cool at 6k ft. at the high point on the parkway. There has been very nice weather also. About 50/50. So remember to bring warm clothes (we had on long underware also) and rain gear unless there is a big change in 2 weeks. Be prepared for fogging of your glasses/goggles if the weather is like it is now. Also for the "Stallion" owners I would suggest "anti-fog on the inside of the windshield and rain-x on the outside. We did not and MJ's fogged up real bad in the cloads and fog areas. She could not see thru it.

Had to stop several times to wipe even in the rain.

Still the riding has been super. There is a ride called the "Snake" NW of Boone NC. between Mountain City Tn and Shady Vally Tn. on US 421 that is very much like the "Dragon" just not as popular. Now we have done both of them several times.

I hope you guys have as much fun as we have. These are great trike roads. Traffic has really been light on weekdays and not really much more on the weekend.

Ted and MJ

Re: TrikeTalk Rally-2 at the Dragon Tail (May15-17th)

Ted, thanks for the update on the roads and the weather for us! I'm sure we will be cool on our weekend there too, but I know we will have fun :D. I can't wait!

Well... what can I say?

We bailed out on the Dragon this week and headed to Savannah. Lots of sunshine and Old No 7, seafood is great too. We met several others there on two wheels (me too) and took some fantastic rides under the Spanish moss.

Depending on the weather, again, I may head to the Phillips Sat to hang with you guys. Will have to see what Mother Nature says though.

I'll ask her to grant clear weather for you guys for a most wonderful trip.

I love Savannah! There is another good place for a group get-together sometime!!!!!

Thanks for that, Reksul! :D

And yes, let's all plan a meet in Savannah sometime--lovely city, delicious food and *ahem* libations, beautiful scenery in the surrounding area. Glad to hear y'all had a nice time there, Reksul.

(Every time I respond to your posts, I want to ask what your handle means. Hmmm......)

I sure hate to post this I will not make it to TT2. My leg started bothering me more than normal while walking through the vender's at Thunder Beach this weekend.
I went to the doc when I got back home.
Complete knee replacement will be scheduled for some time next week.
After my wreck last year, he told me my knee was also injured and would need surgery. I have been putting it off due to a busy schedule.
I hope to be riding again in a few weeks. SORRY.
One good thing about having surgery is the extra time to play on the computer

Bryan, I am so very disappointed you can't be there with us!!!!!
But most important is your personal well-being, and fixing the cause of the pain is going to be a blessing! Keep us all posted. We'll be thinking of and praying for you to have a quick recovery.

C and I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. We know TT2 was important to you but your health always comes first. There will be more meets and greets to come and I'm sure everyone will agree that seeing you comfortable and pain free is more important.

Here's to success and yes, do play on that computer and let us know how how great your Doc is.

Oh! SO sorry, Bryan! We missed our meet-up at Thunder Beach, and now will miss meeting you at TTR2.

Well, there's always next year, and certainly your health comes first. Keep us updated on your surgery!

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. My surgeon told me today he can't do my knee replacement until the steal plate and all the screws are removed from my leg. He can't make two incisions that big in different directions at the same procedure? Does that make sense? After he explained the procedure, it made sense to me. Oh well, I'll do what he says, this time.
I'll go back in December for the knee replacement. I'll get better some day

I'll talk to you all later. Bryan

Guys... is this still on?

I had a talk with Mother Nature but she doesn't like sarcasm  soooo... Saturday is going to be a tough day she says and since Sunday is Mothers Day she may give us a short break.

Yes it is. You are looking at THIS weekend, but the rally/ride down there is next weekend (the 15th, 16th). Right now the forecast for Robbinsville is:

Saturday, May 16.....79 degrees, partly cloudy, 20% chance rain
Sunday, May 17.......80 degrees, sunny, 0% chance rain

I'm likin' it!!!!!! :D :D :D

Ain't ya happy I pissed her off for this weekend? :D

Got my dates messed up but I have scheduled a network rebuild for that weekend. Let me see if I can lie my way out of it.

Thanks Nana

I truly hope you and C can join us there, Dave. I'm really looking forward to meeting you! I have your cell # and will call you when we are on the way to find out if we will be meeting you guys :D.

I may be a (no offense Wolf ) lone wolfy if I can swing the network change.. will just have to see how many others can change their plans so I can make it.

Anyone ever hear of Google Latitude?

Here are some links to it and a video. When we go riding this is how we know where our friends are if they get separated. If there is good phone reception on your GPS phone it can show you within 3 meters of where you actually are. It has nice privacy selections too so it can be turned off if you want to be incognito and turn it on when the next ride is planned.

It is free and my cell company has never charged me for GPS time on a few dozen PDA phones I use for my company nor any of my friends that use it. It works on any GPS enabled phone and you can also view your friends locations from a computer and even add an avatar so you can be recognized right away. Pretty much will find you anywhere in the world as long as you have cell coverage.

I leave mine on most of the time unless I run to Dunkin Doughnuts for a sneak snack. :D:D

Reminds me of a book I read in high school in 1964... what was the name of that ...??? well it was only off by 25 years

The final countdown has begun! :yay:

Mike & I have a good 7-hour ride down, so we will be pulling out early in the morning and will be ready to relax, share dinner with, and get personally acquainted with our TrikeTalk friends

Looking forward to meeting y'all on Friday afternoon in Asheville!

:woohoo:

Well guys, the weekend is upon us....at least almost upon us.... Close enough that we are heading out this afternoon to meet in Asheville tomorrow afternoon.

To those that can't be there with us (and there are a lot of you!): I trust you are also having a wonderful weekend with friends, envying our time time together, and smiling because you are staying dry! :p

To those that are meeting us: I can't wait to spend some time with you! and I trust that you also look forward to the fun, the ride, and that you brought your rain gear !

It appears that the question is not will we get some rain, it is how much we will get..... :gah:
Oh well, here's hoping the raindrops are interspersed with tons of sunshine!
To a great weekend together!!! :beerchug:
