Trike restrictions

Hi everyone! First of all, thank to administration for happy birthday congratulation!

Friends, we are working on the launch of series production electric trike and want to clarify the question about restrictions on the use of trikes for the world and the United States.

Here is the information I found: . But this one more requirements than restrictions.

Can you tell me how these restrictions are strict, and how they work? Anyone faced them? Effects?

First Alabama has a helmet law, DOT
The rest I s if you get stopped fir something else they most likely they will add other tickets ipf things are not in order. No tag will get you stopped.

Well I can tell you your listing for Florida is not correct. You must have at least a 3 wheel endorsement to ride a trike in Florida. You are required to have at least 10k of medical insurance if you are 21 and old and choose not to use a helmet. Yes it applies to trikes because they are licensed as motorcycles here. Under 21 helmets mandatory.

Minor correction here. In Florida, the Motorcycle endorsement allows you to ride a 2 or 3 wheeler. If you complete the Trike/Sidecar evaluation and request an "S" endorsement, then per the DMV: "The S Restriction indicates that the person only has permission to operate a three wheeled motorcycle."

New Hampshire requires a motorcycle license to ride a trike.
Also helmets required for operators under 18.
Title laws are tightening here as well due to fraudulent paper purchases/registrations, making it easy to get a title in title only states...

New Jersey should be Yes for everything. A trike is still a motorcycle, and consequently. motorcycle endorsement is required.

Nebraska should be yes across the board. Motorcycle endorsement, title, registration, insurance, and helmet all required. Kansas is yes across the board with the exception that helmet only required for under 18.

And I would add, eye protection is required
either with or without the helmet.

Oklahoma is yes across the board with the exception of helmet. Under 18 is required to wear a helmet

Georgia should be yes across the board. Motorcycle endorsement if your driving on interstate, title, registration, insurance, eye protection, and helmet all required.

Guys thank you very much for provided information. In California similar requirements: license is required, liability insurance is required, helmet. For moped: Motorized Bicycle Application Reg230 $20 as of January 1, 2014 (One time reg fee), an M2 or M1 license is required.
I think we can make full table for states with your help, so hope to hear more answers for other states.

Not avoiding the topic, but also important question: how do you register your trike? And do you need a number (license plate)?

Ky is yes across the board except no helmet.

Ct should be yes across the board for normal sized trikes, Harley, Goldwing, etc. Any scooter under 50 cc no motorcycle license or registration required but haven't seen any trikes based on the small scooters. Ct just passed legislation for a new classification called autocycle so the new 3 wheelers can be registers here. My tike was just registered as a normal Goldwing and my insurance covers the bike plus the cost of the kit as an accessory.

Helmets not required for adults over 21 I think, I have always worn one so don't pay attention to that requirement.

First, the printing is so small I can't read the chart...even the larger version... without a magnifying glass. And I ain't gonna take the time. But from all the other responses it seems like it ain't too accurate anyway. Here in CALIFORNIA you don't even need an endorsement of any kind. As long as you have a drivers license you're good to go. Same conditions apply concerning insurance etc. as a four wheeler...

For Utah you have mostly blanks,but the motor vehicle code clearly requires a yes across the board except for helmets unless you are 16 or under the you must wear a helmet and be able to reach the foot pegs.

There was a piece of legislature that passed, its included the youth atv ban (known as CPSIA). In that piece of legislature it states no off road 3 wheeled ATVs will be allowed to be imported anymore.

In PA, if you have a motorcyle endorsement (M), you can operate a motorcycle or a trike, but you can also get a trike-only endorsement (9) but you won't be able to operate a motorcycle with it. You also need to wear a helmet if you're under 21.

No I don't ride an ATV so have no idea what this is. Go to the AMA website they should have the most up to date information there.

In Rhode Island all have a yes except for helmets which are as follows:
Helmets for all under 21, all passengers, and all riders in their first year.
