Old geezer widower here, beginning to obsess over getting a trike, a Freewheeler. Going to have neck surgery soon and a 3 month or so recovery. A couple problems, nearest HD dealer is a 3 hr. drive away. New trikes seem way over priced and meager inventory. Have ridden bikes since I was 16 (78 now) but bikeless for about 20 years (wife had to pick me up at the hospital after my last ride and put her foot down). I've been spending a lot of time on line and on You tube TV. Live in Brookings Oregon and Medford is the closest and most of the other three are 5+ hrs. away, kinda far for for a test ride. Guess I'll just have to keep on searching/looking as I've got a few months to wait...

Good for you! I found this forum a year ago and is the reason I’m on a trike now! Lots of good folks on here who are full of information to help out!

I was going to suggest getting on Cycle Trader. I did a quick search using your zip code. Boy you are right, there’s not much to choose from in your area. I didn’t start finding anything until it was 250+ miles away. Even with the HD dealerships online inventory.

I’m here in east central Illinois and there are quite a few nice used FW’s starting around $19k & up. Do you have any family in the Midwest that could help you find one and maybe have it shipped back? Are you looking for new or a nice clean used one that’s more affordable?

Nothing like window shopping for a new ride. Good luck on your search

Yep, window shopping is correct. I've been reading as much as I can, researching HD Dealers, and looking at a lot of Youtube Freewheeler hacks (DK Customs a lot. I know to triple check most things I see on Youtube!). Spent a lot of time looking at parts and accessories (most $$$$!). One concern, where I live the trike needs to be quiet, a lot of old folks looking for something to complain about. Not the 200 db Harley Rumble...

A thought would be, 1 are there any shops near you that does trike conversions. 2 get a used Road King for under $8000 and have a conversion done on it. 3 scout out marketplace for a low mileage used trike/ conversion.

If you want or think you need quiet, any thought about a gold wing trike? My brother, NJ Mike and I both converted our 2021 gold wings over to the CSC trike kit. Extremely extremely happy with the product and the service by Dwight and Will. Just a thought…

The hunt is part of the fun. I got my Tri glide last summer due to a bad knee. I searched a three state area. Ended up buying one from an estate sale only a few miles from home. I was the only bidder, there was no reserve, and I paid less than half of its retail value. I had knee replacement surgery a couple weeks ago. Won’t be riding for a while.

Since Mike and I have gold wings, we had to hunt for a trike kit installer. There are absolutely none in the whole Richmond Virginia area. I then found out that the actual CSC factory was only 100 miles from my house. We went there and they showed us around the factory, which was awesome. They sat down with us and went over the pricing list and answered all questions. We very quickly gave them the down payment and six weeks later we had two beautiful trikes. Great product and great customer service.

Thanks fellers. I live in a small town and there's no sizible city nearer than a 3 hr. drive. Nearest Honda dealer 300+ miles away. Found a '22 Gold Wing trike for sale 637 miles away .
and a '17 Freewheeler 663 miles away (Cycle Trader). I don't want to sound like I'm complaining or have a bummer reason for all the suggestions, I just chose to live here when I retired and moved from LA. I think I'm gonna have to just go to the Medford dealer after the surgery and hope he still has a '24 FLRT for sale.

When it was time, I bought a used 14 Tri Glide and set it up for the wife n I, we put 15000 miles on it in about 18 months. We finally decided it was time to upgrade. Found a low mileage 21 that was pristine. Love it. Suggest a shock upgrade in the rear for sure specially since you had back or neck surgery. A seat with a backrest is a strong suggestion as well. Be prepared to spend some decent coin on those 2 components to have some true comfort. I have Pro Action 14” shocks and a Ultimate seat with rider backrest and 2+2 Kromewerks handlebars and it’s a good trio.

mid, regardless of which brand you choose, I think you will be happy with a trike. Again, like ironhorse54 said, if “quiet” is a consideration, give the GW some thought. I love my CSC converted GW!

Google “Goldwing trikes for sale” and see what hits you get…
