I have a gl1500se trike I’m in need of modifying the bar going across the trike kit I failed to look at size of tire 175/60-16 and order what owners manual called for which is considerably larger that I’ve already bought and installed if I modify bar to accommodate my tire am I going have problems if?

Thanks for your reply I’m not sure what kit the goldwing has the bar crosses over from one side to the other right in front of center stand which is preventing the original size tire to go back forward it’s square tubing I’m thinking I can cut it and extend it forward in a square shape to accommodate tire I will have to remove center stand to make extension otherwise I’m stuck with a tire I can’t use and have to dismount and buy another smaller tire

Hello & welcome to Trike Talk Kent.
From what you're showing looks like an outrigger kit.

Thanks for your reply if I hadn’t already bought and mounted the tire the owners manual called for it wouldn’t be a problem but now I find myself wanting to cut the cross bar form box to make room for original tire

Go trade in the tires for the correct size, even if it cost a couple hundred dollars it has to be cheaper and better than cutting out that crossmember & SAFER

That crossbar likely provides much of the strength and structural integrity for the outrigger. You mention a "manual". Does it name what type outrigger system? I would DEFINITELY not cut that bar as the outrigger will become unsafe. Buy the correct size tire.

Thanks for your reply yes it’s definitely a major support to the outrigger and I understand why they’ve eta it this way as the center stand is in the way and I’ve removed it as I definitely can’t get it up on center stand trike is to heavy I’ve already cut bar and will have to have a shop that welds aluminum as I thought it was metal that I could weld myself it will be like it was only moved forward to accommodate the original tire size installed by Honda in 2000 I know many think this was a bad idea but I feel that it would be ok to do again thanks to all who replied
