Trailer for Hauling Stallion???

I have a Stallion and have been looking for a lightweight trailer to haul it in without having to also carry ramps (would have to be very long ones). Have not had a lot of luck finding one in my area (South Texas). There is a company in Colorado (Air Ride Corp) that makes a trailer that has an air lowering feature and is also lightweight. Has anybody had any experience with this company? Are there any other companies that make a trailer suitable for hauling a Stallion? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Minnie

Contact CharlieD on this forum, he has one that he hauls his stallion on.

Aluma makes several single axel trailers that work well MUST have folding rear gate and NO front trie holder load against front cross rail. weight range of 500-600 #'s Reference the colorado unit talk with DEAN HAUSER on Trike Talk. he has one for his stallion Charlie D. Tks Texan

I have seen these demonstrated and admired the craftsmanship and engineering.

Ben have you seen this trailer with a Stallion on it or going down the highway with one? the weight of trailer & stallion would be very heavy.. Have not yet seen one with a stallion on it.

Checked out the Alumakim trailers - there is a dealer in the San Antonio area. Was really hoping to find a suitable one there because they are very light. They had two possibilities, the TK1 and the MC210. The bed of the TK1 is 63" wide and the bed of the MC210 is 77"wide; the length of each would have been adequate. The problem is that in addition to being very wide (63"), the Stallion is also extra long at 125" with very low ground clearance. The ramps of these trailers are under 4' long and the rear end of the Stallion would be hitting the ground before even going halfway up.

Thanks for the comments and I could still use your help!

I have a TK1 and really like it. The ramp on the MC210 is not as wide as the TK1. It is meant to slide over to whichever side the bike is going to be loaded on. The way the ramp works is it is pulled completely out then hooks over a lip on the back of the trailer. The dealer that installed my kit has a 210 and he hauls trikes on it. He said the wheels of a Motortrike are wider than the ramp but with a little care they get it done. The deck on my TK1 from the toolbox back is 139 x 63 inches. It is 67 1/2 inches between the fenders. It is 125 inches from the tool box to the rear tie downs. One could make the bed 14 inches longer if needed by removing the back panel of the tool box and just use it as a shield. I don't put anything valuable in the tool box and I don't lock it. I figure that is a good way to get the lid bent up if someone wants to see what is in there. A kid could easily destroy the lid with 1 hand. For the ramp you could get a couple aluminum ramps and hook them about 1/3 or 1/2 way up the Aluma ramp so the rear tires will start up sooner, but that is something else to haul and keep up with.
I would look at the 7712H utility trailer and build my own rock guard or buy the sideboards to put across the front and/or the sides. Aluma makes a fine trailer, the only problem I have encountered is mounting to the floor. It doesn't look safe to fasten to the aluminum deck, I used steel strips for backing and sandwiched the floor and lower support cross pieces between what I mounted and the backing strips. Don't over tighten the mounting bolts so the cross support beams won't be crushed, and double nut the bolts so they don't vibrate loose. I will try to get some pictures if you need to see them. I have an adjustable receiver hitch that can be raised and lowered that I sometimes use for loading. I raise it all the way up and that lowers the back of the trailer so the ramp is flatter.

Thanks everyone for the input. Thanks to Charlie D, I made contact with Dean Hauser who owns a trailer made by the company in Colorado (Air Ride Corp). He spoke very highly of that product - I think I am going with their trike trailer which requires no gate and NO RAMPS!!! Thanks again, Minnie

Aluma also makes a fold up rear gate that bens in the middle go slow and use the right load angle and it works fine. Air Ride trailer is nice but pricey..ThumbUp

I just purchased a Wells Cargo Fast track model enclosed single axle 7x12 x6 trailer that has a 4 inch drop axle . and electric brakes.14 inch wheels. I have no problems at all loading my Stallion. I have a one inch clearance going from door ramp into trailer. 3500 lb gvw. unlaiden weight is around 1400. Not a bad price either, around $3000.00 They just started producing these this year.
