Tour Pack Question

I have a 2010 Tri Glide, blue and silver and a 2014 Limited, charcoal pearl and black. I took the limited down to run like a street glide so I have the tour pack setting there. I've been thinking about painting the Tri Glide the same color as the Limited. Not in love with the blue and I really like the charcoal pearl.

Now for the 64 dollar question. Has anyone seen or heard of anyone putting a Rushmore tour pack on a pre Rushmore model?

I would think that it can be done. The wiring may be a challenge but should be doable.

Thanks

Tour Pak mounting positions aside, I think you'll find your biggest concerns will be more Pre Can bus vs. Can bus. This involves two entirely different means of communication....Can bus is pretty much high speed data bus vs. Pre Can bus' point-to-point dedicated wiring. There may be modules out there that can provide the interface needed to make it work? Wish ya the best!

Overlooked the Can bus angle. Work with it daily on vehicles and equipment. That definitely could be the deal breaker. I'll have to do some pre mount testing before getting too deep in it.

Thanks ShapeShifter for bringing that to my attention.

A couple of years ago I investigated if it would be possible to put a Rushmore tourpak on a 2013 Triglide. Mine had a huge crack on the side under one of the hinges. Aside from the CanBus issue as pointed out in an earlier post, the mounting turned out to be a problem. The Rushmore tourpak mounts are very different than the earlier models, so not only would I have to get a new tourpak, I would have had to get all the new mounting pieces and parts and no one seemed to know for sure if it was possible. Turned out to be way more expensive than just replacing the bottom tub. We kept and used the lid so that saved some dollars. Happily the paint on the lid still matched the paint on the new tub, which I thought spoke pretty well of the paint job Harley does.

Well I may just put the Rushmore tour pack in the man cave and leave the trike as is. Might still paint it though.

No sense in going through all that mess.

Thanks

Yeah, I really think the wiring would be the simpler part of the deal. But the mounting can really get involved. I've mounted a tour pak on a bike that had none and I was pulling my hair out, what little there is. It isn't easy and if you are off a fraction of and inch it will show. Probably not enough calls to make it worth the effort for someone to make a kit that would work. This day and age of computer controlled milling machines would/should/could make it simple, but not enough calls so they won't do it.
