Has anyone kept their stock mufflers and knocked the catalyst out of the converter? How much louder did your mufflers get?

Phu Cat, I run a Fuel Moto headpipe with stock mufflers. It is a deeper and a bit louder. I love the way they sound and have run this set up on two different Triglides. The CAT is like a second muffler.

If anyone needs a stock header with Cat for a Triglide I have a spare I'll let go cheap. I replaced the Header on my wife's 2010 with a catless header. When we traded the bike, we kept the one that came on it.

She is keeping her 2012 Triglide stock header with cat. She claimed the only difference she saw in the 2010 after going to the non-cat header, the muffler's were louder. She was running Jackpot's. They are on her 2012 now.

They were louder, but not in a good way. I didn't like the sound after removing the cat.:)

Paw Paw Willie: Same here. Fuel Moto catless head pipe and stock mufflers. Sounds great.

Could it be the Fuel Moto head pipes? I'd think the header pipes would be awful close in width and length.

these 1100-1200 RPM fuel injected H-D'S will never sound as good as a 750 PRM
older H-d. if only i could remember just how good they sounded?

Ti, it's so we can keep you 'wingers from going to sleep on your motorized Lazy Boys.

I just put on true duels with the stock mufflers no cat, [11 T/G] What i found out looking in the mufflers with a flashlight is that the Left muffler has a blocking plate in it.
So i get a Tinny motor boat sound out of that one, I Drilled it out a little, sounds a little better, I'll ride it for a few days and if it doesn't sound like the right side I'll drill the hole a little larger. Worst comes to worst I'll get slip ons.
P/S ;I'm not looking for noise I'm looking for tone!

I put Kerkers on mine with the stock header and it sounds great it has a nice mellow rumble when idling and when you get on it they sound loud but still mellow and crusing on the road they are very rider friendly still nice and mellow.Just my $.02 the best way to find a set of pipes that sound good is hang around your dealer an a warm Saturday and you will get to hear lots of different set-ups ! ! !
