To All Our Vets...

The general called the motor pool and asked what was available at the facility to which the soldier replied 3 jeeps and old fatso the general's staff car. The general asked the soldier if he knew who he was talking to and the reply was no, so he said "its the general to which the soldier replied "do you know who this?" The general said no and the soldier said "good by fatso."

B 17 AVENGE PEARL HARBOR.jpg

my dad 50 missions two presidential citations. B-17 door gunner. North Africa to the belly of the beast, Schweinfurt on black Thursday was one of them, Hornets nest over Gerbaini was one also, 50 Nazis shot down, 8 possibles, he said it was a busy day,

Ben warmer, shot down 8 planes himself, with his previous kills he became an enlisted double ace that day and a battlefield promotion to LT. He was 2 planes to the left of my dad.

My uncle killed in a b-17 crash he enlisted with my dad. Dad was a crack shot, gunnery instructor Mountain home Idaho, uncle died training while there with my dad:mad: .

The day the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor............;)

The day the japs started it all, and Roosevelt used the excuse he was looking for to save England, he and Churchill had been collaborating on.

The far east took second fiddle to the war FDR was really interested in. The fuse was lit in Pearl, it was jus one action that started it all.

I still have a relative in the belly of the Oklahoma. Miserable way to go out.

But given time the Nazis would have got to Pearl sooner or later, the whole world was their target. But you know all this smarty pants. ;)

Next to last is a motorcycle buried from WWII and found with a detector. What a find.

Thats exactly what my Old Man would say.... And he would add that the general feeling of the day was the Japs all wore thick coke bottle glasses and couldn't fly too well.
And would /couldn't do too much damage.. So let them hit us...And we could rally the troops and erase the isolationists in this country and then save England... And that dumb ass Hitler helped Roosevelt by declaring war on us a few days later..
I guess it all ended well though.......ThumbUp

Being ignored coming home was just part of the crap we got, now a days I just get po'd about what's going on now in this world, with all the still desperate vets out there and watching all these damn Illegals coming to this country and they might as well be getting Purple Hearts or Silver Stars and have really done nothing for this country other than be promoted above our soldiers that have served thru trials & tribulations of war with no credit given. I say deport them all or enter the correct way, then serve this country to earn your position and a say in our crappy politics.... sure wish I'd have gotten a BUS ride to my front door with all new clothes, some spending money and put up in free accomodations til I got situated.... this world just keeps piling on.!!!!

I just want to say: From Nam to the Present Conflick (war?) Our Government uses us as a tool to fight for their own situations that they cannot solve! When in doubt! Fight it out!! not right but we would be booed if we told them different by ones that think War is always the answer......(ex-VietNam Veteran) just my 2cents.................:gah:

I've flown in both of these but it's takes me back when it took three days to fly from Pisa back to Missouri on a C-130. I didn't think we would ever get off that bird!

Iv'e flown in The C130, And back in 65 would watch them do touch and go at Fort Lewis [Gray Army Air Field] Being new to the military i couldn't figure what they were doing' it was quite a sight.. And a little unnerving..

I spent my Air Force career in Air Transportation. I wish I had a dollar for every passenger or ton of cargo I loaded/unloaded from these aircraft and others.......Sure do miss it sometimes!!

Chick-fil-A, the same fast-food outlet has once again proved a positive to the world. This time it did so by unveiling an amazing Veterans Day tribute that left Georgia resident Eric Comfort in complete shock.

According to a Facebook post he published on Monday, when he walked into a local Chick-fil-A, Comfort discovered a “Missing Man Table” that contained a single rose, a Bible and a folded American flag, as well as a plaque within which was the following explanation: “This table is reserved to honor our missing comrades in arms. The tablecloth is white — symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call of duty. The single red rose, displayed in a vase, reminds us of the life of each of the missing and their loved ones and friends of these Americans who keep the faith, awaiting answers. The vase is tied with a red ribbon, symbol of our continued determination to account for our missing. A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears endured by those missing and their families who seek answers. The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God. The glass is inverted — to symbolize their inability to share this evening’s toast. The chair is empty — they are missing.”

After the story went viral, the store manager, Alex Korchan, explained to WSB that his team members had set up the table because they “wanted to honor veterans.” Furthermore, he revealed that he planned to offer free meals to all veterans and their family members this Veterans Day between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Korchan also put up a poster so that customers could write in the names of loved ones who they have lost. “We’ve had a lot of people who have come in and seen it and been touched by it,” Korchan continued.“It’s been special to see.”
