She that and so much more. As an airtraffic controller in Miami Center we had the pleasure of guiding these birds to their tankers for air refueling over the Atlantic. It is done just as they say in the video. We had to keep everyone else away from the pair. When done she did the ditsy doodle and puff she was GONE. We had speed readouts on her target well over 1500 knots. We didn't get to track her long before she was gone. The pilots were great to talk to we used codes for altitude reporting above 60k.

Also worked a lot of U-2 aircraft when they flew out of Patrick Air Force base. Fun but not quite as exciting.

> So why should this be the case. The answer is simple…It’s not a fighter…It’s very big…It doesn’t make much noise… It doesn’t do aerobatics and it doesn’t travel at twice the speed of sound. No, it’s a transport aircraft.

What aircraft???

Not one either. Served in the ground based air Navy (P-3's) operating a couple of sensor stations and radio. Tracked a lot of subs, mostly soviet. Did have the honor of meeting a WW2 submariner on the last cruise the wife and I went on. Some awesome stories.

When you can get a WW2 submariner to talk about their war experiences you're in for a treat. Most of the time they are pretty tight lipped.

Served aboard and qualified on the USS Daniel Webster SSBN 626 Gold when it had the bow planes, only nuke missile boat to have bow planes, made it easier to find coming back highly lubricated!!!!

I qualified on USS Triton (SSN 586) and spent 4.5 years aboard as a QM. She was the only boat we built with 2 reactors. She was also 450' long!

Do you ever come up to N. FL?
