The windshield on my new to me GW/RS was sufficiently goobered up to be needing a replacement sometime.

I am thinking about the F4 in a +4" size for better wind management for me and the wife. But, I am intrigued by the option of a tinted windshield.

Some say they love the tint as it cuts down the glare during the day and headlights at night. Others said it was darker than they liked at night though.

I'd hate to buy an expensive shield and found that it was too dark at night, although my night vision seems okay.

I do wear glasses and it would be nice to lose the clip-ons on sunny days?

Any experience with tinted windshields or the F4 tinted shields and how do you like them?

All my bike/Trikes had tinted windshields.. But i have them set so i look over them, Not through them..
So the tint is only cosmetic ...

I have two schools of thought on the subject...

1st...if you're wearing sunglasses when you ride, it doesn't really matter.

2nd...that will give you 2 windshields you can change back and forth with, depending on if you are going to be riding at night or not.

Like Rhino 2 said, I look over and not through, so it really wouldn't matter all that much to me.

IMO I wouldn't waste the extra buck on the vented windshield... I feel no difference on my RSV. It may be different on the Wing.

Have 11" LRS light tint. Look over it with a Scorpion helmet w/retractible clear shield for rain and big road rides.

What vehicle are you referring to?
Pretty much all of them. Ever notice the blue tinting at the top of your cage front windshield. That's what is referred to on the sticker as 'tinted glass'. If they're referring to the rear passenger glass it will specifically say that.

The front windshield is not tinted from the factory any lower than 4 inches...it's illegal. Ask a tint place if they'll tint your front windshield. They'll say no, at least if they are a legal operation. Not even at a low percentage, like 50. At least that's how it is here in KY. It may vary from state to state, but I seriously doubt it.

Count me as a "NAY" to tinted windshields on my bikes and trikes when there's a chance I might need to see through it at night or in fog, etc. Tint is what my eye wear is for.

I like my tinted windshield. Seems we are always facing a low sun either leaving in the morning or coming home in the afternoon. I also wear a dark shield on my full face helmet - and RX sunglasses during the day.

The tinted shield also helps me with cutting down the glare of a lot of oncoming 2-lane night-time traffic I've noticed - although we don't ride at night very often any more.

I can "see" :) where fog or rain might be a problem however. Unfortunately we don't have too much moisture of any kind in west Texas.

Jim prefers his clear shield.
